I'm a green mage by heart, even if I haven't been playing as much green as I'd like in the last couple of years. With the release of Dominaria, Big Green has become a viable strategy in Standard again, YAY!*Edit 16 May 2018-1 Elfhame Druid -1 Prowling Serpopard -2 Rishkar, Peema Renegade-2 Rishkar's Expertise -4 Cultivator's Caravan-5 Forest +3 Driven // Despair +4 Scrapheap Scrounger +3 Nature's Way+1 Swamp+4 Woodland Cemetery After some testing I found 8 dorks to be too much. Was going to go down to 2 Elfhame, but want to get more testing in first.Cultivator's Caravan performed much worse than expected. While there where times the elves would drive it, it sat there as a rock more often tham not.The rest where removed to male space.Scrapheap Scrounger is a decent turn 2 play, if no dorks are around. Nature's way performs double duty here (hopefully). Trample is a good combat "evasion" ability and the one sided fight reduces the number of blockers.Driven (Driven // Despair) provides a decent damage push and some card draw.Woodland Cemetery and Swamp for casting Despair and reanimating Scrapheap Scrounger. Not key to the deck's plan, but nice to have access to. Steel Leaf Champion prevents too much non {G} mana.**Edit 17 May 2018-3 Elfhame Druid+3 Druid of the CowlEffectively the same creature here, but more resilient (3 toughness) and can add more than just mana for Ghalta because it has 1 power. I also don't have any kicker cards, so the "Add {G}{G}" is wasted here.
Mana dorks to ramp into big green stuff early. Big green stuff helps reduce Ghalta's cost, as well as just being big threats. The gameplan is simple: get out big green stuff and beat face. I've included a few utility cards in Nissa, Nature's Way, and Driven. Driven (and Despair) give ways to punch that little bit harder, and gives card draw, something green welcomes as they often run out of steam. Nature's Way also helps punch harder. Nissa can return stuff from the grave turn lands into card draw, which helps some against Settle the Wreckage.
