Deck Description

One of my favorite decks, it so far is unbeaten but I have yet to play in a Modern tournament at my lgs, but I intend to do so, I'd love some help building a sideboard and would greatly appreciate it. because i'm hitting a wall as of now xD, i'm running aetherize as one sided board wipe and not just that BUT, since it returns the creature's to their owners hands it makes it targetable via extirpate/surgical extraction too :D same concept with remand as well. secondly if i'm in a tough spot what I've done before was aetherize my own snapcaster and replay it to mill those last few cards that i'd need, which is fun as well. lastly if I get a tamiyo emblem I basically win if I have a glimpse, mind sculpt, or any extraction card such as surgical extraction. Fun combo btw, Surgical extraction + Tamiyo Emblem + Psychic surgery. because you're casting different spells and they all resolve separately so technically after each spell I exile, they shuffle psychic surgery activates, rinse and repeat :) but i'm rambling at this point. in anycase give me tips for my sideboard I'd love to play this deck at fnm, tell me what you think and enjoy likes, comments, suggestions all welcome and appreciated.
UPDATE!: also i'd like to run inquisitions or Thoughtseize to get rid of cards like lightning helix or Goblin Guide what are your thoughts?

A very special thanks to Racky54 for helping me refine the deck and build a sideboard.

How to Play

Aggro Extraction Mill. lots of early game hard hitting mill spells combo'd with cards like extirpate, surgical extraction, and snapcasters to completely shut out resistance and win with usually no trouble. Enjoy :)

You got it :) It's quite a hard deck to counter, it always puts up a heck of a fight

This deck in two words: EPICLY AWESOME!

I'm not entirely sure how, but i would see if i could find space for archive trap in the main board. Many Modern players use fetch lands, and occasionally you will get to cast the trap at your turn zero when you're on the draw. I wouldn't board more than two.. Having them on your starting hand against non-fetched decks could become annoying.

As much as i love the idea of Tamiyo and Psychic Sugery, i think i would rather have a few more kills.. With only 2 Black suns as board removal, i would fear to be overrun. Something that can work with the scepter would be to prefere - Doomblade, Go for the Throat, Geth's Verdict etc.

I am going to proxy this deck and return with further comments :)

Two milldecks recently went top 8 in modern.

Since there were two very different designs winning, I think the cards they shared in common should be a hint towards what actually works for mill...

Here's what the two winning designs got in common:
4 hedron crabs
4 archive trap
4 visions of beyond
4 glimpse the unthinkable
3 cards giving slight card advantage (either snapcaster mage or augur of bolas)
2 cards discarding important stuff (either thoughtseize or surgical extraction)

First design is a weird aggro-mill, but it won and I like it enough to promote it.

The second deck is much more alike some designs of my own except for augur of bolas and visions of beyond.

You can also click on my name and go through my own list of mill-designs from modern and legacy. Though there is much to read. At least it's chronological in nature :)

Love the deck man, currently surfing around for ideas for my own. except I'm trying to use the 2 Spectres (shimmian/nightveil) for some more fun exile. Having ghost quarter looks like a nice combo with psychic surgery. I would use hedron crab for more mill however, I don't like ruining deck themes. Its like a brutal surgery..only instead of scalpels its scythes!

Since your playing a surgical extraction, 2 cards from RTR block may help you: Slaughter Games and/or Reap Intellect. I know that the deck is Blue Black, since you have Breaking//Entering in here it is labled red, how sad :'(
Reap intellect may be really helpful since you get to search for X cards and exile ALL of them with the same name

Thanks for the reminder =]

This is a very interesting design. It's more mill than anything else really, but it still can do a substantial amount of extraction. I like the layout of cards you have, and I think it looks pretty fast to boot. My one concern is that there is no discard, to keep them off of any threats before you can shut them down. It's something I might consider, but if it compromises too much of the rest of the deck then I would stick with the design you have right now as it is pretty solid. I think your sideboard needs a little touch-up too, but unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with the current meta so I can't really help with that, sorry =/

Without secondary removal, liliana will be beaten by creatures, so she is not working well within this design :(
