Enchantments (4)

Deck Description

This Deck is one hell of a fun to play. Sometimes it even trashes competitive decks with its relentless aggression and heavy early and mid game pressure. It's very cheap and easy to play.

Deck discussion for Budget Decks: Total Aggro

Very nice build! I am working on my first red spell deck, yours has given me several ideas. I haven't played magic in ten years, so it is taking me forever to catch up on all the new stuff. Good job.

Loved the different approach to red aggro elementals...
For additional tweaks I would introduce some combinations of: Rage Forgers, Hellspark Elemental, Flamekin Bladewhirl, Generator Servant (T3 Hasted Nova Chasers), Hell's Thunder, Stigma Lasher, Incinerate...
And definitelly take out Browbeat, Lava spike, Fling, Fatal Frenzy.

I agree except fling, can be devastating with ball lightning and nova chaser.

...No Kiln Fiend? Id take out the 2 nova chasers and fire servants for a playset of kiln fiend. Turn 3 Cast a lightning bolt, its now a 4/1, swing for 4, then Fling it. You deal 10-14 damage with that one combo depending on if they block.

1

Too creature dense for Kiln Fiend.

1
Posted 20 April 2015 at 23:21

At the very least Fire servant should get axed. Its too costly for this deck. Id rather have a set of hellspark elemental or Spark Elemental over the two copies of Nova chaser. And seeing as Incandescent Soulstoke is the Elemental lord, Id run a set of him too! Id take out browbeat, odds are, when you want cards your opponent will take the 5 damage, and when u wanna do 5 damage, youll get to draw cards instead. Opponent choice cards tend to be screwy like that.

1
Posted 20 April 2015 at 23:54

Thank you for your suggestions :)
I think Kiln Fiend is not a bad choice for this deck too. I tried it out several times and I felt like it just lacked the punch the deck packs with my current decklist. Kiln Fiend should be played in a deck with instants and sorcerys that give your creatures double strike, make them unblockable and so on. (have a look at this deck: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/modern-kiln-fiend-nivix-cyclops/)
I think I'll kick Browbeat for something more viable though :)

1
Posted 21 April 2015 at 13:15

Why does everyone hate on browbeat? Red has a tendency to run outta steam quick and holding a browbeat, or drawing into a reforge the soul has always been brilliant for me. I love the deck though. Check out my modern friendly mono-red burn, tell me what you think. :-)

1
Posted 24 April 2015 at 05:32

Let me put it this way Yode. If you ever use a browbeat on me and I see you need cards. I will take the 5 damage to face to lock out your hand. Think of all the scenarios you would NEED browbeat. Now imagine for each of those scenarios, your opponent choosing the effect you DONT want.

0
Posted 26 April 2015 at 04:31

Be that is it may, neither option is a fun decision to make as an opponent. Sure, the main gain from it is the card draw, but 25% of a starting life total is nothing to balk at.

Wow!!! Love this one, i suggest to pair Fatal Frenzy with Rush of Blood (you lose trample but there's no need to sacrifice your creature https://www.magiccardmarket.eu/Products/Singles/Avacyn+Restored/Rush+of+Blood) , maybe 2 of each.
I would try to play a couple of reverberate!

+1

1
Posted 21 April 2015 at 07:12

instead of reverberate go with increasing vengeance because you can flashback it. also, considers dropping one or two of the ball elementals for blazing hellcats. as to the rush card, its good but trample is the big one

2
Posted 21 April 2015 at 11:36

yeah i didn't notice at first about the fact Rush of Blood doesn't give trample, but nova chaser already tramples, and so i suggested it anyway!
And yes increasing vengeance wins on reverberate, i completely forgot it, so i said reverberate! thanks for the input!

1

Wow. Increasing Vegeance is too good to not play it in this deck. I didn't know this card before. I think I'll add two copies of it. Thank you very much guys!

You are welcome mate, i was thinking...what about -1 mountain, -1 stigma lasher , +2 Skullcrack ?

1
Posted 21 April 2015 at 14:11

Mhh well I don't know. Lasher kinda does the same thing Skullcrack does plus I can search it with Harbinger that's why I think I only need one copy of it. On the other hand Skullcrack synergises with Servant and Vegeance.
I think I'll give it a try and playtest it a bit.
Thanks mate. :)

1
Posted 21 April 2015 at 14:42

Ok I swapped Frenzy for Rush. Top targets for Frenzy would've been Ball Lightning and Nova Chaser anyways and they both already have trample. This way I can pump Chaser and also keep him in play. Pulling off your suggested Rush+Frenzy Combo seems a bit unlikely (and maybe expensive too) when only running only two copies of each so I decided to run Rush 4 times instead.

1
Posted 21 April 2015 at 15:16

Sorry, i was not meaning to use them in combo! I'm not that good with english, what i mean was a 2x of each of them...so Rush for Ball Lightining and Chaser, Frenzy for non tramplers creatures :P

Let me know how the playtest goes, i'm really interested in building this deck myself!
Thanks!

theres a red spell thats like lightning strike but for one mana you can return it from the graveyard

1

http://www.mtgvault.com/diamondheart/decks/deathstrike/ This is my elemental deck! It is super fun I have 3 turned someone with it before WITHOUT lightning bolt, with it maybe I would've done more damage. There may be some elementals here that you want to add. I would completely say that you should add the Hellspark elemental because when you run these decks your biggest problem is card draw if they can withstand you. Hellspark's Unearth ability is great especially with the Nova also you can unearth as an instant I believe. A good buff card would be Titan's strength +3/+1 and you get to scry1 all for one red mana. Also, sometimes awaken the ancient is nice if you need a 7/7 for four mana. Also, very nice deck you get a 1+ from me!

1
Posted 22 April 2015 at 14:50

Cant unearth as instant. But still valid as a champion target (although it won't come back if unearthed).

One last combo idea, 3 for lightning ball, 1 for titan's strength and before dying you fling for 2, 18 damage 6/1(+3/+1) combat phase, after fling before end step still 9/2 creature for 18 damage in total for 6 mana, next turn shock or lightning bolt for 3

One last idea that I have is the Basilisk collar. This card would be 1 pay to get out and 2 equip. It gives creature lifelink and deathtouch. Why? Check this out! Almost all elementals have trample if you give them deathtouch as well they are really mean. 1 damage to kill the rest to trample over. Since the collar is an artifact it can be attached over and over again and it will give you life as well. People won't want to block it so that is when you pump it up and then fling. The one major downside is that the card is expensive...

1
Posted 23 April 2015 at 14:37

Sounds good to me. No worries. 11€ on ebay isnt THAT expensive for an optional tweak. :)
What would you kick for it and how many copies would you add?

2
Posted 23 April 2015 at 15:02

I would say 2, -1 Smokebraider/ 1 land because lack of mana will be the least of worries for such small creatures -1 incinerate just because the collar beats it out wayy more, I would also say -2 Rush of blood and +2 Titan's strength My argument for that is mostly because it is a little buff compared to titan's unless done to the Nova. 2 titan's strength for only 2 mana would give the same buff to a lightning ball and you get to scry to make sure the top card is the next one you want for the next devastating combo

Dude this is a really nice deck, i made it online just for fun and its so fast it wrecks people. Almost consistent turn 5-6 win, the only thing i disagree with is collar, while lifegain helped me mid game i was hoping to set up for killing blow next turn by then, not make the game longer by playing an equipment rather than a burn spell.

2
Posted 30 April 2015 at 02:04

Yeah collar is not really necessary. It was kind of an optional suggestion by one of the commentators and I thought it would work well for some people so I added it. I dont even play it myself in this deck. I play it with -2 Skullcrack - 2 Collar + 1 Smokebraider +1 Incinerate, +1 Rush of Blood +1 Stigma Lasher. Works better for me. :)

2
Posted 30 April 2015 at 08:25

Actually, I agree with you guys. (I suggested it) The main thing is that this is more so a death by spell than by elemental, right like fling or lightning bolt or something of that effect? The collar would go well in my deck because all of my elemental creatures have trample and I usually win by elementals doing damage rather than spells. I think if you ran more elementals that die quickly and have trample (spark, hellspark) then put it in. Otherwise good choice to take it out! :) One last suggestion I would say is Temur Battle Rage (maybe because it isn't direct damage but damage from elemental again) 2 cost one red one colorless, gives double-strike as an instant, good thing is first strike(part one of double strike) lets them live through the damage (6/1 or 10/2), and they hit really hard possibly 20 from Nova alone and it is instant speed. But again maybe more so sideboard because I'm guessing you win more so with damage from the burn spells than the elemental damage.

How about Koth of the Hammer (if the budget allows it) and Hammer of Purphoros? The collar doesn't seem needed at all. Turning your land into creatures seems a like a big benefit.

cool deck. didn't read all the comments so I don't know if anyone suggested it, but I always like to throw in a couple of Fireblast. it's just such a great finisher when the opponent thinks you're all outtapped and can't do anything anymore. especially in combination with fire servant.

1
Posted 11 May 2015 at 10:50

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you like it.
But well.. As long as I've been playing this deck I never really felt like needing ANOTHER finishing move. I mean come on.. one attack with nova chaser + fling or rush (+bolt to seal the deal) equals GG in most situations and there are already lots of other combos in there that are just as powerful especially when Servant is out. Fireblast might be a great finisher but other than that it just doesnt seem like an overly useful card to me. Most of the times I think it'll be a dead draw especially if you are behind somehow. And if you are not you will not need this card to finish the game fast. Plus if your opponent counters it it will most likely make you lose the game since you already sacrficed 2 lands if I understand this correctly. Seems a bit too dangerous for me mate. :/

About the Fire Savant. He (5CC) seems a bit unreliable for a deck that runes 19 mana.

Got to love an overpowered and efficient budget deck. I don't typically play decks like this because I prefer multiplayer, and burn decks suffer in drawn out games when other decks ramp up. Any idea how this fares in a 4 way situation? Could you conceivably simultaneously wipe out two opponents during one main phase by turn 8 (assuming they both had 10-15 health)?

I've been using your deck and some variations over on Virtual Playtable and doing well with it. I've created a version that splashes white for Spark Trouper and includes the Hellspark Elemental for the Unearth Option. Why? The heart of MTG is budget decks and more casual play. What is so fun about a deck of all mythics and rares? Don't mean to sound like a jerk but I truly would like to know why you feel that way since I feel completely opposite on the subject.

2
Posted 05 July 2015 at 22:11

Honestly, I'm starting to think I'm the only person on this site who doesn't even think to look at the price of a deck. I could care less what a deck costs, so long as it's well-built, either casually OR competitively. (That said, in fairness, competitive players don't shoot down decks for being expensive, because they know the cost is justified. But disliking decks just because they're cheap, rather than judging them on their merits, doesn't make sense, either.)

0
Posted 13 December 2015 at 19:55

Why are multiple cards listed under stats as free? If you add back in the cards accidently listed as free the deck would probably be closer to $70. It's still not bad price wise for the competitiveness of the deck, especially considering if you regularly bought MTG cards you probably have over half the deck anyway. All that said, great deck, I think I'll either just buy a copy or tweak it a little to better fit my local meta.

I think it does the same thing for MTGO versions of cards, thus I put the MTGO versions of alpha lands in my decks so people stop whining about the price and actually look at and comment on what the deck theoretically does, regardless of how much we are told ink on card paper is worth.

So! Important new question, because I still have this deck, and still love to pull it out.

Same ability, 1 colorless cheaper, but going to sorcery speed instead of instant.

ill be honest. most of the decks i see on the front page anymore are pretty terrible (especially the "competitive" ones). This deck, however, actually seems to be right up my alley. I like this one. it may not be the absolute fastest deck but it applies a lot of pressure and looks like it might even be down to race a burn deck ( which is something i definitely like to see in modern). good job.
