Nice theme and some nice synergy with this deck. The lands seem to need a bit of work though, there are much better substitutes for the lands you're using without as much consequence such as the vivid lands. And more fetch lands will improve the effect of your hedron crab. Might want to work in an elixer of immortality just incase you're fighting a spell deck rather then a creature based deck for your sideboard, because i believe that would be your major weakness at this point, is you seem to be making an assumption that the opposing deck is creature heavy or themed. Other then that solid deck, could maybe also try to get more 4x certain cards for more consistancy

Well, more fetch lands are no necessary 'cause Hedron is not as important in the deck, that's the reason i'm not playing 4 copies in the main.
In case of fighting against a spell deck I can replace Breathsteeler's Crypt with additional copies of Zur's Weirding and make my opponent discard only the essential cards, but adding a pair of Elixir would be a nice idea, so thanks for the advice. Also this deck is kind of old and I have to update it.
I don't need 4 copies of all cards to get consistency. I'm already drawing too many cards each turn and with Teferi's Puzzle I'm replacing twelve or more cards from my hand each turn, so I almost anytime got whatever card I'm needing.

agreed, draw card decks really help with being able to be consistent without the need of 4x every card. But the opening hand is still the big concern and the major reason for such placement of cards. Once you're started this deck will definitely draw the cards you need when you need them. Just a question of turn 1 2 and 3. But ya, this is a nice deck, give me a link of another one you'd suggest me looking at, and whenever you put some more time updating this one, inform me.

Try adding some Underground Sea. And why aren't you using 4 copies of Hedron Crab in the main?

0
Posted 02 January 2012 at 01:25

There aren't enough lands or fetch lands to support Hedron's landfall.

add in underworld dreams. Tefris puzzlebox + underworld = massive ammounts of damage. If you add in wheel and deal to that combo, then you win.

It would work very fine, but the main idea is mill the opponent's deck, not to damage the opponent., although I have won with loss of life and attacks from Seizan.

What about Mindcrank? 2 mana and whenever an opponent loses life they put that many cards from the top of their library into their graveyard. It looks like it would fit your theme fairly well.

0

It's a good idea, but I don't have so many ways to deal damage to opponents

0
Posted 05 January 2012 at 01:19

why not a traumatize, or rise from the grave(or something that would let your take their creatures)

0
Posted 04 January 2012 at 21:39

Traumatize will always be an awesome card, but is more a conventional mill card and I'm trying to mill my opponent while drawing cards myself. But thanks for the comment :]

Psychosis Crawler? Works great with Teferi's, Trade Secrets, and Venser's.

0
Posted 05 January 2012 at 02:09

Psychosis Crawler will die in my next turn, because with Teferi's theres a moment when i have no cards in hand.

0
Posted 05 January 2012 at 02:20

Pyschosis crawler will not die from the puzzle box while it's true technically you will have no cards in hand for a brief moment according to the rules both the discarding and drawing will happen simetaneouly. I do not have proof of my statement but I did have a deck a lot like this one and I had the same question and I looked it up a while ago nice combo

have you thought about adding jace's archivist and library of leng as then you discard to the top draw a load and your opponent mills out pretty quick also adding mind funeral and glimpse the unthinkable would make it faster

It's just as I said before: spells like Glimpse, Mind Funeral, and others are awesome , but using them is the common way of a milling deck, and I'm trying to do something different. I'm trying to mill my opponent drawing cards myself.

deck sucks.

I get murdered with it vs any form of control, any aggro, or just anyone who gets a 2/2 out on the field period, I never have enough mana and get several of those island/swamp fetchers after i already got your ONE island and ONE swamp on the field, the decks a train wreck and never works.

0
Posted 10 January 2012 at 06:05

Hahaha, if you are trusting in the "draw sample hand" of this site it is evident you're new using it. But yes, the deck has trouble dealing with aggro, and thats the reason of a SB. Also, this deck is just for fun, I made it because I wanted a mill deck that was way different from normal mill decks.

The gent that introduced me to Magic has a deck with the puzzle box in it. This outweighs it by an EXTREME amount! I have a mill deck that they lovingly call the B*tch deck, but I definately want to try and put this together. The only problem is the specific lands you mention. Could you do that without those specific lands? or is even feasible?

0
Posted 13 January 2012 at 19:13

Yes, I know I'm using very expensive lands, but I didn't bought them for this specific deck, I've been gathering them for a long time ago, and I use them in different decks. I think this deck could work with cheaper lands but I haven't tried.

This is such a wacky deck. It seems very vulnerable to black control, but the combos must be so entertaining when they go off.

good card here, distant memories. either you get a card of your choice from your library, or you get to draw 3 cards. :) either way you win with this deck. :)

Hmmm... Distant Memories seems pretty fine. My only concern is the cmc, cause in this deck is already too high. Maybe is time for me to make a Modern version of this.
