This deck is very dependent on it's commander. Which means when he is out, I can rock face, and when he is in the command zone, I struggle. This deck is very vulnerable to single target removal and board wipes since it is so creature reliant. For this reason, I want to put a lot of counterspells in. However, I'm still working on which ones to include and which cards to remove. This is my first commander deck so I'm still learning the finer points of deck creation. I am also pretty casual, which means I don't pay more than $10 for a card and I don't mind playing with banned cards. My sideboard is nuts, because I am still making changes to the main deck.
I don't play any creatures until I have my commander out. The first 3 turns are for tapped lands and artifacts. Once my commander is out, I try to get as many counters as soon as possible by playing cards that generate tokens. I like to put several counters on one creature before putting them on several creatures to try and bait out single target spells on those creatures. If they use single target removal on creatures instead of my commander I am happy. Because this is a blue deck, my eventual goal is to have around 7 mana, 4 for a creature, and 3 saved for a counterspell. I only stop the spells that wipe the board or kill my commander. I rely on ETB effects to control the creatures my opponents put out. Play creatures, get counters, swing big for the win.
