Deck Description

The idea of this deck is a stabilise deck to counter aggro. Within Gatecrash, Boros has been a prime source aggro; and both by competing in tournaments and playing Boros myself I've decided that this menace has gone on for far to long (a month). After a long and hard think I've devised a deck list that should stabilise well after a hard hitting first 5 turns and that will sustain into the late game.

How to Play

I play this deck as a anti aggro sustain deck, the deck is designed to soak up a few turns of hard hitting, and before you know it a thragtusk will have reared its beautiful tusks. The deck itself has two main mechanics; the most important being Deadeye Navigator.

Deadeye is a massively overlooked card in my opinion. The card has amazing versatility for a 6 mana creature and has the ability to trigger almost anything. The primary aim for your deadeye is to flicker your thrags. This being said I also use the deadeye to flicker gatecreeper for land, ragebeast for removal and Zegana for the draw power. This helpfully will also trigger the evolve of fathom mage for that little extra draw.

The second mechanic is Galvanic Alchemist; again another overlooked creature in my opinion. This is because I recently discovered an infinite mana loop with Axebane Guardian. The loop works by having 4 defenders, which allows you to gain 4 mana, then while it is paired by the alchemist you can then untap the guardian for 3 mana allowing you to profit in one mana of any colour. This loop will allow you to infinitely flicker thragtusk and gain billions of life and millions of beast tokens, this loops can also be used to pump spells like clan defiance to burn off creatures or players for 20. Another good thing about this is that you can use it to untap mercurial chemist to draw 4 cards.

Most of the cards in the deck synergise well the bracers included these allow your elves to untap 2 forests you chemister draw you 4 cards instead of 2. My alternate win condition if I can’t win through damage is a mill tactic, using the bracers and having 2 defenders your doorkeepers will keep up with most sustained mill decks meaning a lot of decks will not be able to keep up. This is a bonus as you have a backup against extort decks.

My sideboard is designed to counter aggro even further; the guildmage will allow you to remove undying counters to have a immovable wolf blocker. Your slimes remove land artifacts or enchantments which can slow down most decks, especially if you destroy shock and hybrid lands. The spotlights allow you to remove such threats as Lazav and invisible stalkers as they are now vulnerable to burn from your main board.
