Deck Description

So I wanted to surprise my friends with a new deck till this weekend. This is what I came up with...

Would really love any assitance to make this a better deck, I haven't gotten all the cards yet but they will drop down my mailbox any day. What I think is I need some more card draw, preferably instant so I can fetch 'em with Sunforger.

Idea is simple. Lock creatures with trumpeter and sniper, block with enforcer to proc meditation for nukes. Get sunforger out, cast spells through library: start locking 'em with intimidating bolt and heal/nuke with lightning helix (and proc with meditation for more nuke). Bounce all the spells back to library with elixir of immortality (also procing with searing meditation for more nuke). Razia's purification for emergencies: Keep creature + boros garrison + sunforger and you can keep the control of the game!

ANY TIPS VERY APPRICIATED

Chandra, Boros Fury Shield, and Sunforger all seem out of place to me. The deck is very good otherwise, and plays nicely to the ideals of the Boros guild =P

I'd try putting in Cerodon Yearling...That little guy packs a punch, and will be insane with Balefire Liege out.

Glory of Warfare is an excellent and very Boros-like card to try as well.

Last suggestion is perhaps Rise of the Hobgoblins. Also a good choice I think.

Other than that, I like the design. Well done =]

They are all good cards for a boros aggro deck, i agree! What I want to do with this is to keep it slow and safe, bouncing spells with sunforger and drain the life out of opponents. I can agree that chandra and furyshield is out of place. Chandra is in there just because i have one and i love planewalkers. And if my opponents can't attack me it will be fast to pump her up for 10dmg. Furyshield i considering removing for lightning bolt since it isn't "kicked" when i play it through sunforger. Any suggestions for keeping this a 'control' based deck?

Well, Boros is inherently not control based. Boros is tactical offense. Think of the Liege, he makes opponents take 3 and you gain 3. That right there is pretty much Boros in a nutshell. The only "control" part of Boros is the life-gain and first/double-strike. Some Boros decks use stuff like Silence, Brave the Elements, and/or Emerge Unscathed. Those do pander to a more control..ish style, but they still control in a way that lets you push your offense forward.

If you keep the Sunforgers, I'd still suggest lowering the amount you have down to 2-3 max.

I'm very positive all your suggestions make this a better deck. However it is not quite the theme I'm looking for. With 5 mana I could fetch and cast intimidation bolt each turn through sunforger, making my opponents unable to attack me while draining them with ajani/balefire. That's the idea of this deck. Lock them, and drain 'em out. I already have offensive decks (ninjutsu, etc) and wanted to make a deck that keep a slow game on my own terms. Another guy in my meta already play white/blue so I wanted to try something different than the standard controll. Thanks for all the great suggestions though, if this deck doesn't turn out well i might as well remake it to a more offensive one.

White is actually commonly one of the main 3 control colors actually (alongside blue primarily and often black). While Boros is admittedly more typically in aggro colors, it is perfectly reasonable to make it control style. I actually have a RW control deck myself. Red is quite nice at filling similar roles to black in the form of damage based spot removal that can take out creatures as well as help deal with the opposing players themselves.

What this deck really needs to run a control theme is Sweepers in the form of cards like Wrath of God or the similar and cheaper Day of Judgment. Lightning Bolt is a must have 4-of for nearly any red deck and a control deck is no different. It is cheap spot removal and the most efficiently costed burn spell ever printed! Your creature cards are fairly underwhelming and I do agree with surewhynot that Sunforger is incredibly sub-par in this deck. It's too inefficient and you should be cutting down on your creatures so you can play sweeper cards like DoJ instead anyways.

To do this, Oblivion Ring is almost strictly better than the Trumpeter I'd say. The Trumpeter can switch targets each turn which is handy, but it can't hit planeswalkers, enchantments, artifacts, etc. O-Ring does all of that and does it as soon as it's in play, while being less fragile. The same goes for the Stun Sniper.

I would also drop the Elixer. It's great life gain, but only for decks that can't normally gain that kind of life or need to reshuffle their deck. However, white is THE best lifegain color and has soo many options that to play Elixer is just kinda silly honestly. You could play Rest for the Weary instead even! Even then, I wouldn't suggest the lifegain in general as it just doesn't help win games.

Other cards quickly to consider for Boros Control:

Wing Shards, Path to Exile, Swords to Plowshares, almost any big angel/dragon as a 3 or 4 of for win conditions, Arc Trail, Journey to Nowhere, Isochron Scepter, Gideon Jura (not quite as budget friendly...) and many more.

Hope this wasn't too much and was a bit of help.:) Good luck with it.
