Deck Description

Hey guys! I'm going to PTQ with this deck, so I need help refining this deck to its best state! Thanks! Should be pretty straight forward what this deck is about, and if it isn't, then please tell me because that probably means the tactic I'm trying to use wont be too good.

How did you do with this deck. I am interested in making a mill yourself deck, and after looking over the internet yours seems to be the best one that makes the most sense. Also why would you put in the Woodland Cemetery and Glacial Fortress when you are not running Plains or Swamps?

I just saw the Unburiel Rites so Woodland Cemetery makes sense, but why the Glacial Fortress?

"Ok, I'm going to give you some advice. Rites of Flourishing would excellerate draw and mana ramp at the same time. Mirror-Mad Phantasm and Phatasmal Image or some clone varient would make the Lab Maniac an instant kill thing... so 4 Lab Maniacs 1 Mirror Mad Phantasm 4 Rites of Flourishing and a couple Birthing Pods to sac the Mirror Mad Phantasm. Remove Essence of the Wild, Silent Departure and Mulch. Replace those with a counterspell of your choice, Beast Within and Tree of Redemption.... it will run loads better that way."

I honestly don't know what Birthing Pod would do for him, since his creature curve ends at 3. Mulch is key in this deck. The Mirror Mad Phantasm could work, but adding three more Lab Maniacs isn't worth it, it's best in sideboard. Essence of the Wild is either cast or brought into play with Unburial Rites, then he plays Spider Spawning (with flashback too) for tons of 6/6's. Splinterfright and Boneyard Wurm would also ETB as Essence, when there are no creatures in the graveyard, e.g. I think Rites of Flourishing would be good to try, but it probably won't be any good, since your opponent would win that race.

I think you could go with a Drowned Catacomb instead of 1 Woodland Cemetery, just cause of the Basics you already run.

I can't really read what you're typing man. You don't end sentences, use capitals, or even type the full words ( e.g. "srry guy but dags rit"). Don't worry about it too much, but it'll be easier to consider any advice you have if people can understand it (the advice wasn't bad, but the deck is already focused on what it needs to do).

Honestly i was in a rush and stuff. That is why it is really sloppy, but still it should not be too hard to understand.

i would have to agree with some comments on here. this looks very solid and u should get the jump on everyone. doing a few sample hands it shows good balance in the cards and is very fast actualy. i think dagbaker has it pretty well covered.

Pretty cool deck, dude. Looks very solid.
Maybe in Dark Ascension theres something to improve it even more, like Ghoultree (but I think Boneyard and Splinterfright are way better).
You could sideboard a couple of Phyrexian Metamorph, it is so good getting rid of creatures like Geist of Saint Traft.

when dark ascension comes out make sure you get increasing confusions

Increasing Confusions is a must for you with the flashback giving twice the discard!

Why no Skaab Ruinators? Seems it would be crazy good in this self mill

seems like skaab ruinators would detract from the spider spawnings, splinterfright, and gnaw to the bone because you have to exile three creatures from the grave.

First off, very cool deck. I run with a similar one. But how does this deck not have forbidden alchemy in there!!!! Awesome card for digging up your non flashback threats while adding to your mill at the same time. It does the work of two cards and you can flash back late game if you find yourself in a pinch!!! At least in the side board over the selhofs?
I like the boneyard worms in the side board. EotW makes them redundant in the later game, but should you find yourself in need of some midgame muscle against early fast beatdowns.. pulling them in will be great success!!!

also thought kesig cage breakers would be a good addition. Folks will have sever the bloodline in their decks. Making them choose between spiders and wolfs could be to your advantage.

I would cut 1 silent departure for 1 Think twice. This gives you an instant win con if you need to go the laboratory maniac strat.

If you could add some green mana somehow, the new Ghoultree would be pretty awesome :)

Put 4 mental missteps in the side.

It stops nihil spellbomb and grafdiggers cage (which will end your game quickly).

Building a deck like this for myself. 2 cards from DA that are a must: Thoughtscour and Tracker's Instincts. Also, I've found Mindshrieker to be underwhelming. He might be better for you with 9 5+ cmc, but I would much prefer Kessig Cagebreakers. They are a definite win condition. I played with the idea of Ruinator, but decided to focus more on Splinter and Kessig as my win con.
Here's my take:

this deck will be much better once DKA hits.... Increasing confusion, Thought scour, Chill of Foreboding all should be decent cards for consideration here

Probably not Increasing Confusion. Tracker's Instinct and Thought Scour are enough to add.

Tracker's Instinct, Thought Scour, Mental Misstep for SB, FORBIDDEN ALCHEMY, 1 or 2 Tree of Redemptions to help save you if you are on the losing end of a battle.

Cool deck idea, I love green blue!

Ghoultree would be cool in here. If you get him in your opening hand, he can be just as effective if not more effective than splinterfright.

This is very "all-around", despite it's Mill-base.

I think the price will be much more fair (less than $40+) if you didn't include the split lands. However, you wouldn't be able to use Unburial Rites in the end...

Regardless, well done.
