a while back i heard about a fringe modern deck that focused on abusing primal forcemage with tons of mono green creatures with haste, with a general trend that they basically burn down the opponent but don't last long. i never tried my own brew because it seemed extremely inconsistent. but then amonkhet came around and rhonas's monument dose basically the same thing and gives trample to the few creatures that don't already have it. with this new addition, i tried to make a deck with the forcemage theme in mind and this is what i came up with. This build is very cheap and i am still testing it but it works surprisingly effectively. any input would be much apreciated so please comment and thoughts or suggestions.Sideboard explained:Essence warden: great against burn decks to stay up on lifemanglehorn: good hate against lantern control and affinityguttural response: good against annoying blue playersscavenging ooze: graveyard hate
the goal is to swing with your creatures until your opponent has no more life left. most of them have haste, and don't last long but can get in for a lot of damage even without forcemage or monument, but with them the pain starts adding up, especially in modern where a lot of decks hurt themselves with shock and fetch lands as well as thoughtseize.

I like how this deck is put together, I would maybe suggest Boggart Ram-Gang.

I second the Ram-Gang, possibly in Timbermare's slot? Timbermare does tap down your creatures too. And unlike Timbermare, Ram-Gang is a legal target for CoCo. Oh, a note about Rhonas's Monument, creatures from CoCo will not trigger it. CoCo creatures do trigger the Forcemage though. Mimic Vat and Giantbaiting are other cards worth considering. Is Beastcaller Savant's haste more important than not being able to spend the mana on noncreature cards? Personally I'd use Birds of Paradise in its slot. BoP costs 1 less, can allow a turn two Forcemage or Monument, and because of the way the Monument works, you can target the bird with all the +2/+2's to have a large flyer.
Savant is good bacuse it is the only mana dork that can also make a solid attacker with the monument and force mage triggers if it is drawn later. Your notes on ram-gang made me add it in but I am also keeping timber mars and getting rid of rancor instead because it is a brick in more scenarios than I had hoped.
Good call on the Rancor.
Did a little testing on XMage and came across something I didn't notice before. While Primal Forcemage specifies giving the creature that entered +3/+3, Rhonas's Monument can not give it to the creature you just cast as it's not on the battlefield yet (the cast spell hasn't resolved yet). Thus, with the Monument, you have to have another creature out to gain the benefit.
Crap, never realized that, guess this idea isn't as good as I thought. What exactly is Xmage?
XMage is a free, unofficial way to play Magic online.
