Sideboard (7 cards)

Deck Description

I'm very new to MTG, and I'm looking for some pointers as to how I can improve this deck for casual play. (I'm not entirely sure what strategy to focus on and what to have in the sideboard/remove so I can trim this to 60 cards) Any card recommendations are welcome. Thanks!

Deck discussion for WIP B/U Zombies (help please)

Hey! First of all, welcome to magic. 1-1 lol
I think you should sideboard the Grimgrin, Havengul Lich, Sheoldred, Rooftop Storm, Zombie Infestation, Call to the Grave and Clout of the Dominus.
Carrion Feeder is a good card. Specially with Gravecrawler
Lord of the Undead, Death Baron, Cemetery Reaper are good lords too.

Thanks for the reply! Do you have any suggestions as to how many of each I should add or whether I should change any of the quantities of cards I already have in there?

4 Carrion Feeder and more 2 Diregraf Ghoul
Oh, take of the two Vile Rebirths and the Vivid Marshes and add a bajuka bog and 2 Barren Moor
I would add 1 Lord of the Undead 2 Death Baron and 1 Cemetery Reaper. ^-^

Could you explain the purpose of the bojuka bog & the barren moor? I'm a bit confused as to how they could help the deck (Also wouldn't I need more sources of blue mana?)

This is a nice deck, here are my ideas:

-2 Swamp
-3 Island
+4 Drowned Catacomb/ Watery Grave
-4 Grixis Grimblade
+2 Ultimate Price
-4 Carrion Feeder/ Diregraf Ghoul
+1 Cemetery Reaper
+1 Lord of the Undead
+1 Mikeaus, the Unhallowed
+2 Undead Warchief
+2 Whatever you think is best

Welcome to magic. Monoblack's biggest failing is artifact and enchantment control. Until you add either artifacts or splash for a second color, you will be at their mercy:( I like your zombie theme and hope you use the awesome data base to brows cards like ratchet bomb and oblivion stone. Goodluck!

Put Grimgrin and Rooftop Storm in the mainboard, because if you have those two, Diregraf captain and Grave crawler you have an infinite damage combo.

Yeah that's what I was thinking when I originally added those in

what about an army of the damned?

Personally I would play Call to the Grave mainboard instead of Endless Ranks of the Dead. The latter is kindof "winning more" whereas the former is board control. If you keep the opponent's number of creatures down you buy yourself enough time to get your army growing. Moreover, Endless Ranks doesn't help you much if you are already in bad shape but Call to the Grave can help you coming back from a bad situation.

A deck which isnt commander should have a maximum of 60 cards take out the grimblades and the rooftop storms

He is new to Magic and it won't hurt to have 66 cards when playing casual. This deck is still waaay better than the 80+ card piles you and me built when we started Magic, so cut him some slack.

Yes its a good job he has done of a new. It was just an advise.

Since you're only running 5 islands, I would replace the Grixis grimblade with Zombie Master or Unbreathing Horde.
Personally, I prefer Mono-black Zombies, but if you really feel like going with the multicolored deck Lich Lord of Unx is a must.

You are trying to do a little bit too much with this deck. Sure having a ton of different zombies is fun and cool, but the thing you will learn when playing magic is that the more consistent your deck runs, the more enjoyment that you will get playing. You have the basic theme down, but there are certain cards/suggestions that you really shouldn't bother using that I've seen here so far in the comments. So that being said, I've thrown together a list of a similar deck I ran at one point for u/b zombies and have tried to incorporate some of the things you look like your're trying to do plus added some suggestions of my own. http://www.mtgvault.com/spudface/decks/ub-zombies-2/ you can totally throw in grimgrin into that list if you want, id prob only put a max of two, taking out maybe 1 dark ritual and 1 skaab ruminator. Remember consistencey is key, because above all else, playing magic is about having fun, and if youre playing consistent, you will have fun guaranteed.

Mono black aggro zombies are really effective. I use Sheperd of Rot's ability with diregraf ghoul, gravecrawler and geralf's messenger on the board for massive amount of damage early. then I use unearth on my geralf's messengers provided they're still in the graveyard. If you run in some trouble and need to buy time, Tendrils of corruption on turn 4 or 5 will take care of many annoying creature and allow you to gain a consderable amount of life at the same time. Sheoldred the whispering one and mikaeus the unhallowed in the late stages to keep control of the board and prepare for the kill.
