For anyone that has ever had the privilege of play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, you will immediately understand the homage that this deck pays to the Water Temple's mid-boss, Dark Link. Upon targeting your corrupt counterpart, Navi exclaims, "Conquer yourself!" And that's exactly what your opponents will try and ultimately fail to do. Utilizing the new-found power of the Dimir, this deck turns your foes best tricks, traps, combos, tactics and strategies against them, ultimately making their deck their own worst enemy. Dark Link is a relatively inexpensive standard deck that isn't designed to win tournaments, but is a blast to play at the kitchen table or FNM.
The deck has a disposition to play with a control strategy upfront, using cards like psychic strike and duress to disrupt your opponents plan as you begin to assemble your own threats. Chromatic Lantern is a key enabler card that allows you to capitalize on Nightveil Specter and Havengul Lich's abilities to cast your opponents spells, even if they aren't blue or black. Dimir Charm is outstanding versatile card which has the added benefit of keeping Lazav stocked with a fresh supply of various shapes and forms to assume, and setting up Nightveil Specter for the attack. In the late game, Lazav and Evil Twin work in tandem to kill your opponents best creatures and assume their lethal form, and if double the trouble isn't enough, Havengul Lich is there to resurrect their freshly slain beast to the battlefield under your control! If this strategy isn't working, then it may be to the benefit of the player to sideboard into a more orthodox control deck that majors in fliers and minors in milling as a Plan B.
