Do you like Commander but don't want to spend hundreds on a deck? Do you like Dragons? Do you like Partner Commanders? (Kinda?) Do you like newer sets? Is your favorite spell Earthquake or Fireball? Well we're going on a hike on a volcanic island to meet a Dragon. Ganax likes treasure, and happens to know that this bizarre island also hosts faerie dragons. And our gameplay is to abuse dragons and the ability to make them treasures and faerie dragons. So let's get to making a hoard and calling a horde.
Step one: Hit the skate ramp- I mean mana ramp. Step Two: Cast Ganax. Every time this dragon or any dragon hits the board, make treasure.Step Three: Cast Feywild Visitor. Now, when we deal combat damage, we make a faerie dragon. Which also makes a treasure.Step Four: UNLEASH THE DRAGONS. TAKE TO THE SKIES.Ok, but seriously, let's be real here. We're using cheap dragons that cost $1 (maybe a few cents more but I didn't want this to be pure jank, ok? It's under $35 which is already fantastic.) So we don't get the best stuff. No Lathliss, can't even use the new blue legend dragon from the D&D set. So, we have some legitimately questionable Dragon choices. But, this is budget baby, and we be rocking some spice. We got Reinterpret to counter & cast, we got Deep Freeze to shut down a Commanders, we got Replication Technique to copy dragons, we got Earthquake and Fireball as finishers, we got Archwing Dragon to net recurring value on our commanders. I'm not saying you're gonna curb stomp turn 3, but I'm telling you this is dragon fun for a great price. It can be upgraded with expensive cards, but this is my take on how to do it without selling kidneys. Just have fun, and remember, these jankier dragons tend to take targets off your back that Ur-Dragon would bring.
