Deck Description

Is EDH too expensive for you? Wanna play a fun deck that doesn't cost a fortune? Then allow me to introduce you to....Poor Man's EDH. For under $75 you can own a cool, powerful, and fun EDH deck that isn't too limited. This time, we call upon the King of Conspiracy, Brago! Flicker strategies have always been fun, and now you can bring it to EDH with a vengeance! Enjoy!

How to Play

Brago's life and rule have seemed to be since society was built, and to keep his rule, Brago has gathered a variety of powerful spells and creatures to dominate the kingdom. Now you get these same spells to rule EDH with Brago's Hail to the King deck! Using powerful enter the battlefield abilities, you keep cards in hand and the board under your command! Cards like Wall of Omens and Gryff Vanguard pick up some cards for your hand and help defend yourself afterward, while cards like Fiend Hunter and Lyev Skyknight deal with potential threats. With the variety of effects your creatures bring just by showing up, you can keep the advantage tilted in your favor!

To keep the game going your way, you have a variety of control spells to keep the odds against everyone else. Brago knows that people can start powerful uprisings against kings, and to prevent such rebellious actions, he crushes all hope of freedom with excellently timed spells like Lost in the Mist, which not only counters a spell, it returns a permanent to it's owner's hand, or Prison Term, which locks a creature up and if something worse arrives later, the Term can release it's captive and lock down the new threat! With these powerful spells and perfect timing, you can shut down a player before they can begin their strategy, and even put a target on them while they're vulnerable!

Brago best tactic is the flicker ability. He uses spells that causes creatures to re-enter the battlefield to reapply their enter the battlefield abilities! Cards like Conjurer's Closet and Deadeye Navigator fuel these flickers, but no one does it better than Brago, King Eternal himself! Every time he deals a player, not only does the commander damage stack, but you can exile any number of nonland permanents you control and bring them back instantly! With this power, you can flicker your army to reapply all of their abilities, like Gryff Vanguard's card draw and Cathedral Santicfier's life gain, for a gigantic impact on the game! After Brago flickers his army, it's almost impossible to resist his command, and once you get your flicker engine up and running, it'll be almost impossible for anyone else to win! With Brago's deck, you can take over any game and force everyone to Hail to the King!

Deck discussion for EDH: Hail to the King (Budget)

I really like the idea you have but i can't see a real end game of you? Or ways to get out what you need to make the deck work? maybe I'm missing it, but by what i can see you need a good hand to do what you need to in this deck.

Most of the time, you can get great hands with this deck. Almost every card in the can change the game, with either a hand full of control spells to stall until you can start flickering, or a bunch of EtB creatures that can control the board or pick up more cards so you can keep controlling the game. You can easily win with Brago and a rogue's passage, or just a pumped up army of creatures from thistledown liege or Angel of Jubilation. Maybe Frost Titan locks up the last opponent so you can steal a win, or you can steal a creature wit corrupted conscience or spirit away and use the biggest threat against them. If you flicker with Cathar's Crusade you make a board full of beaters, and Medomai can keep fueling you with more turns to outlast the competition. This deck as plenty of winning cards, you just have to use them appropriately like with any deck.

I like what you're going for. I'm in the middle of working on a Sen Triplets edh myself using will of the council and lots of spells that have alternatives to them, like Temporal Trespass for example

Votes decks are awesome! It's a shame they're so darn expensive in land base, otherwise I'd go for it. And thank you very much!

That all depends on what you use for your base. Mine is pretty cheap but that's because it uses loss of tap lands and such on top of basic lands

This is only my first build for it. I will likely tweak it later on for other cards that I prefer over ones I have I there
