Do you want to play Commander without spending hundreds? Do you like playing cards on your opponents turn? Do you like overlooked keywords? Do you like kill spells and counter spells? Do you like mana rocks that turn into offense or card draw? Have you been looking for the perfect commander for Candlekeep Sage? Then, let's take a journey through time to Lorwyn. Back in those days, legends were plentiful, with all sorts of tribes and gimmicks. Back then, Wydwen was still as underrated as she is now. On this day, she aims to correct that mistake. It's time to interrupt everyone else to show how important we are, as well as to be an incredible disruptive force at the table. Get ready to deceive and decimate your opponents with tricks and traps abound. Unleash the Biting Gale!!!!
Our deck is flash and instant heavy, and all we want to do is play our turns on our opponents turns. We can flash in our Commander, and most of our creatures (if not all) so we can constantly make our opponents assume the worst. The gameplan is to perform the ultimate mindgame of "Do we have a counter?" the entire time. Prepare to stress out the table as they try to advance their strategy, and we run our chin to make them think we have an answer. To better benefit out flash/instant strategy, we bring cards that strongly support or benefit from it. Wavebreak Hippocamp, Naiad of Hidden Coves, Brineborn Cutthroat, Cunning Nightbonder, Slitherwisp, and Faerie Taunting all empower us as we cast on our opponents turn, and are high priority cards to cast or draw into. One of our most powerful cards in the deck is Candlekeep Safe, which synergizes with our Commander's protection/bounce ability. It allows us to draw as our Commander enters and leaves the battlefield, which is super easy for us to pull off almost every turn! Actually finishing a game is a bit tricky. Our game plan is to control the board, and our best finisher is Commander danage via Wydwen with a Blackblade. Our other creatures can have a nice size to them, and can beat our way to a finish after the board clears up, but we don't have too many, so be careful. Another fun way to win is with Zareth San stealing our opponents strong cards we controlled into a grave, and who doesn't like winning with your opponent's cards?
