This deck is all about multi-tasking. It builds a utility base of useful spirits before swarming a large number of spirit tokens onto the field. Failing that strategy, it can fall back to activating Myojin of Cleansing Fire as a repeatable Wrath of God.You can ignore the sideboard, it is a collection of alternative card considerations that simply did not make the cut.
Some spells are simply utility removal; namely Swords to Plowshares (creatures) and Kami of Ancient Law (enchantments). Most of the others have some sort of synergy/combo potential that makes this deck tick.I am going to point out key combos and their purpose:The core of the token game is based around The Wandering Emperor, Kaya, Geist Hunter, The Restoration of Eiganjo, and Twilight Drover. These ramp this tribal Spirit deck into a deadly swarm of spirit tokens. Long Forgotten Gohei then amplifies all spirits in this deck, token or otherwise.Grateful Apparition adds in a dash of proliferate, powering Planeswalkers, Lion Sash, and Twilight Drover. It can also serve to duplicate other +1/+1 counters (from Kaya and The Wandering Emperor) and/or divinity counters (especially on Myojin of Cleansing Flame).Fleeting Spirit, in addition to being a fairly efficient 3/1 for CMC 2, also provides a discard outlet for Myojin so that it can be reanimated with Spirit-Sister's Call. Kindred Boon can then convert 1W into divinity tokens to power some repeatable Cleansing Flame wrath or simply to protect key creatures.Another key creature worth protecting with Kindred Boon is Cloudsteel Kirin. With it's own divinity counter, it can be equipped to another indestructible (again via divinity counter) giving you an effective Platinum Angel setup.
