The idea is to make an abusive amount of golems with a ton of abilities. Birthing pod will allow you to ramp up to bringing out Elesh Norn, all the while, Mimic Vat will replicate the splicers you will undoubtedly be sacking, allowing you to get quite a few more golem tokens out there. Ideally, you will want to imprint either Precursor Golem or Maul Splicer, as they bring out 2 Golems each. Finally, I know the Precursor has been catching a lot of flack due to his high risk factor in turning a single removal spell into a board wipe. The answer to this is either Asceticism, or, using Beast Within to turn all of your existing golems into 3/3 beasts.

precurser is less of a threat in this deck cuz u can play him to get the 2 tokens then sack him w/ birthing pod to get phyrexian hulk, and just not use mimic vat on him.

and y is the unlife/melira combo in the side board? kinda strange.
i built a deck around splicers as well, but its based on xenograft turning everything into golems and splicers giving everything a boost. I think this is the better way to go tho cuz its a lot quicker.
The reason for the unlife combo in the sideboard is I couldn't think of anything else to put into it. With this build, it's quite difficult to decide what to board out, as all of it is pretty crucial to the deck's focus. Any input would be greatly appreciated since this is still somewhat of a work in progress. Also, I'm unsure if Mimic Vat and Birthing Pod could work in conjunction the way you described, as Mimic Vat puts a token into play, I don't know if it would still have a mana cost since it is no longer a creature card. I sure hope it does though.
no, i mean that u can play precursor golem, get two 3/3 golems, sack precursor w/ birthing pod to go find Phyrexian Hulk (the only 6 mana). Then, do NOT use mimic vat on the precursor golem, cuz the token is a copy that retains that dangerous ability. On the contrary, u can ditch precursor and everything that has to go with it to protect everything. I really like this idea and i built a deck very similar to urs with a twist: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=192718
