Deck discussion for Lockdown

Alrighty, I may not be the best source to ask about a detain deck as I personally place the detain keyword as the worst of the block.lol. Hmm, with this deck though I'd say you could go for some innistrad block artifacts maybe seeing as all your creatures (minus one) are humans. Actually on that note champion of the parish would be a straight up bomb here. You'll be able to push him through with your detain ETB effects and better yet trigger his ability because they are all humans. Ascended lawmage.... is cool. I love hexproof, but sadly this is not its home. Luckily you can pull those out and slap in some of those aforementioned champions. Now onto Lyev decree. Its a great thematic card but I'd rather have something like martial law here. And finally render silent. Seems cool but its tricky to cast and if you think about it your opponent will rarely be casting more than one spell a turn unless you're playing against the nut draw of naya blitz (in which case a (three mana counterspell does nothing). I'd say you could afford cyclonic rift here instead because what this deck cares about is getting stuff on the battlefield out of the way (including planeswalkers). Or alternatively syncopate. Its a great card for a creature heavy deck where you need the versatility of a potential two drop counter.
So in summary: -3 Ascended Lawmage, -4 Lyev Decree, -4 Render Silent, +3 Martial Law, +Syncopate (or Cyclonic Rift), +4 Champion of the parish

I didn't care to much for detain either at first but it grew on me

Its an interesting mechanic. Its just hard to find its niche. Hopefully my essay wasn't an overload

Naw your okay, I appreciate your advice I've been playing a long time since 98 but I haven't tried control decks till now so I'm not to knowledgeable when it comes to building them , I mostly stuck to speed or graveyard manipulation. I'm wondering if I should go less creatures and more counter and bounce control.

This truthfully isn't much of a control deck (at least from what I generally play as control). Its tempo for sure (like a human version of delver decks). Counter and bounce would definitely help if your goal is tempo. I would keep as many creatures as possible with detain though. Because its such a temporary effect you need as many bodies on the battlefield at any point in time to push through that damage. You can probably drop something like lavina just to move towards a more aggressive tempo (although she is a great top end bomb).
