Jeskai/Izzet style Counter Burn.
Use burn spells to the face as much as possible to burn down opponent. Use Mantis Rider for early pressure/blocking/chumping if necessary. If up against a very fast deck with a lot of creatures, side in the Chimera/Firedancer/ Anger, depending on what kind of creatures you're up against, and then use the burn for removal of threats if necessary. Chimera can be a really solid win con.Jeskai Charm offers a lot of choice in how this deck plays, all three options are good, although the 3rd one is very situational.1x Keranos for the burn/draw because you'll probably never meet the devotion requirement to turn him into a creature. Chandra can do work sometimes as well. There's probably a couple better options of cards for the main or sideboard. Fetch lands, maybe stormbreath dragon, etc, but trying to keep the cost at least somewhat modest.

Very similar, I like the idea of dig through time. I wonder if it would be advantageous to put that in my main board somehow.
Mantis is bad put more counters and prognostic sphinx take out swan songs and maybe 2 searing bloods if not all put more banishing lights
How is mantis bad? Its your beatstick. You can top deck and attack and keep a blocker. Its actually good.
It makes me laugh when people dont understand the power level of a card......I would ignore Berry here. Mantis Rider is easily better than Prog Sphinx in a deck like this. I think you should be running 2 Narset instead of Keranos and Chandra, though.
I agree with ninja about mantis rider, but I think keranos is better than narset, even though it is very unlikely for him to become a creature in this deck. Dealing 3 damage/turn or drawing something (which probably means the same) is quite good, and narset needs the board to be clean in order to actually do anything
narset needs the board clear to SURVIVE....het ability triggers when she attacks, and can just end the game....
Narset is bad in this deck - nombos with Mantis Rider, Mindswipe, Disolve, Swansong and Deflecting Palm. When you add in the 2nd copy of herself suggested there are 19 cards she doesn't cast (out of your 36 non-lands). I think she belongs in a burn/token creature generating strategy.
Yeah, Narset doesn't work in this deck guys, I don't want to mill myself out of all my counters and things just to hope to get a lightning strike or something. Keranos is great for helping with draw. Mantis Rider is so powerful, I wouldn't replace it with sphinx. Vigilance/Haste/Flying is just far too good. You can use it for beat stick, and for blocking, which will allow you to block/chump with it so that you don't need to waste damage for the purposes of removal.
I am currently building this deck or something like it. I bought a narset but i think even if you do use your ability it would suck to waste a mindswipe with it. keranos is sweet.
Yeah, I wouldn't use Narset. Keranos is better here. Narset would work better in an all burn style deck with less counter.
yeah it would suck to waste a mindswipe because of narset.

I watched SCG Live this weekend, which showcased some of the first breakout decks of the Standard format. In the face of all the Caryatid/Courser decks, the tourney was won by a Jeskai Tempo deck where the most important cards were 4 Mantis Riders. Suffice to say that this is not the last we will see of Jeskai.Other extremely important cards were Jeskai Charm, Goblin Rabblemaster, and Seeker of the Way. The deck focused less on counterspells and more on proactivity and burn. Narset did also make an appearance. It was a cool deck
Yeah there's some seriously good potential with Jeskai, very fun. Narset would be very useful in a deck with less counters. Which tournament was this, I would like to watch a recording of it.
Star City Open in NJ. you can find it on Twitch, usually. twitch/scglive, or something like that
Awesome, thanks, I'll go check it out today.
I would start at the quarterfinals. otherwise its like 12 hours of coverage
here's the decklist: http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=73383I enjoyed the deck a lot, love tempo decks!
Very nice, If I had the Sarkhans I would definitely playtest it.
http://www.mtgvault.com/socalithurts/decks/jeskai-artifacts/Nice deck. Here's my whack at jeskai
Cool deck. May I suggest a single late game mana sink? I run a fairly similar Izzet Tempo deck and the most important card in it is Crater's Claw. It closes off so many games where Counterburn would otherwise run out of steam. Now, imagine that coupled with a Firedancer Satyr.
That's one of the reasons Mindswipe fits so well here, you can use it like that later. Although swapping in a couple Crater's Claws is a really good idea to be able to use that mana sink on demand. I'm going to be play testing this this week, I'll try playing with some Crater's Claws as well.
Craters Claws is probably just better in that role than Mindswipe, since its not conditional on them casting a spell. also, not really relevant in a standard deck, but if the spell Mindswipe is targetting gets countered, or otherwise leaves the stack (venser, Mindbreak Trap, ect) Mindswipe is countered for no targets, and thus would not deal damage. Relevant in Modern, where Remand is a real problem, not so relevant in standard, just worth knowing.
Really? I thought if it loses its target, it still must resolve all other conditions? So the burn ought to go through. Sounds like a bit of a problem though. Something to look into in any case. Regardless, Mindswipe is very relevent in standard. It's like having Overrule back in, but infinitely better!
theres nothing to look into. the release notes spelled it out in those exact words. it is a single target spell. if it loses its target, the spell fizzles. just like a Cryptic Command using the Bounce, draw modes.
I made a deck that plays like a counterburn deck but actually seeks to combo off. If you're interested, here's a link. http://www.mtgvault.com/kmk888/decks/jeskai-combo-control/It also can become more burn- centric out of the sideboard (ending up looking very similar to this deck!)BTW, the more I play with Keranos in this format, the better he looks. I might include another copy in the sideboard if I were you, or swap out Chandra for another.
wat duz this deck specilize in?
would be interesting matchuphttp://www.mtgvault.com/jaybond/decks/jeskai-outburst/
