Deck Description

the origins of this build came from my crazy imagination of how insane Nicole bolas is nicole bolas has got to be the most distinguishable character/planes-walker/card in all of magic the gathering, liliana being a close second. thats why i spent literal years working on this deck always coming back to it, and now i feel its finally competitive.

the general idea is for the deck to be a spell slinger and then finish with bolas. thats the idea at its simplest, and i feel it still holds to that idea even after its 5th iteration.

How to Play

thoughtseize and inquisition to strip you opponent from any early turn 1-3 threats

thought scour is to help dig for threats and to get cryptic command or ravager in hand by turn 3

if everything went smoothly you should have either a 4 4 dragon on the field by turn 5 to attack or should have a hand full of answers and responses.

if you have none of those thing and ur even behind a land then your only hope is to ward then off with discard and spot removal to actually get going.

sorrecys/instants
bolts for obvious spot removal

then the 2 c-rifts for an AOE wipe

kolaghans for recursion for snappies and more discard

then all of the 1 of instants and sorcery is to try and round out the deck a lil more

terminate for hug creatures out of bolt range

electrolyze for more draw and to 2 for 1 possibly (tokens)

mission briefings should be a 4th snap but it still get the job done and some times its even better

logic knot is a really good clutch counter late game.

cruel ultimatum for that flavor if your playing this card you already won

creatures:

snapcaster mage for spell slinging goodness

nicolbolas ravager is an amazing 2 for 1. when he hits the feild your opponent discards and they have to use another card to get rid of him or get slapped for 4 either is good for me.

MR. Golden fang is in the deck to be a very early threat ideally turn 3. turn 1 fetch land use discard spell, turn 2 fetch land use spell 4 cards in the grave yard delve 4 tap 2 boom golden fang 4 5 body just there.

then vendillion click is an sweet flyer that removes a card from your opponent hand and put it under their deck. but they draw a card. with so much discard early i usually just use this as a 3 1 beat stick but it has come in the clutch from time to time tucking those emerakuls away.

planes walker:

the only walker in here sort of dragon god is an always feel good and if u hit him on curve its insane value. if u flip ravager and have dragon god out your opponent is having a bad time.

upgrades:

the glaring i sore is the seven drop crule which can just and thing really lilana, mindsculptor,damanation ect

taking out mission briefings for a 4th snappy

maybe adding another dragon god somewhere?

other then that i cant really think of any significant upgrades.

Closing remarks:

well thats deck what ya think?? do ya love it do ya love it? do ya hate it do ya hate it do ya truly appreciate it? i spent alot of time on this deck im hoping to win packs with it lol. and if you got the cards you test this bad boy out too.

important recent changes

added 2 engineered explosives
added 2 ashioks dream render
added 2 kolaghans command
added 1 lilana of the veil
added 1 dragon god

removed
1 terminate
i felt this card under performs often. unless your opponent is playing huge creatures
which is very uncommon im seeing, terminate is a feel bad when most targets are in bolt/push range. so i feel bolt and the discard is suffering enough. i left 1 in just to see how it will work out with out so many.

2 dread bores
you would think you would love to see this but it usually puts you on the back foot most of the time due to being sorcery speed. for example turn 3 you dread bore there 3 drop walker and thoughtsizes to be optimal but thats all u did. when heros downfall dose the same thing on the same turn but at instant speed, so kill there walker on their turn and have 4 mana to do what ever cause they are tapped out. that is if you were on the play. theres no reason to have a 2 drop planes walker kill spell normally unless you need the effect in abundance. the card gums up your hand when theres no optimal targets just like terminate this card really depends on the meta of your local to be super friends orientated other then that pitching needle /heros downfall are better i feel.

1 cruel ultimatum
this card was painful to take out but it was also the most obvious. at 7CMC theres no way i could keep up competitively. even when ive resolved this it dosent win the game right out. and most of the time i dont even get to turn seven.

3 mana leaks
replaced with cryptic command, yes it raises my curve a lil but sitting on a cryptic while bolas in play usually closes the game out fast.

2 dispels
this one im not sure on but ill play around to see if ill be coming back to this

1 mission briefings
this one was suppose to be a snapcaster sub but just did not cut the mustard, hard to cast in a deck where i need triple blue all the time. it really messed up my mana management. with snappy i need 4 blue and what ever mana. 1b for snap and 3 for cryptics where briefings i need 5 so i cut it out. if it want a tri color deck it might of fit in

ive removed thought scour due to it causing a bunch of feel bads milling you on win cons or answers with out being able to recur them is a bad time

ive replaced it with serum visions its simply better selection i may experiment with opt

removed Liliana completely its always hard to plus 1 her because i need all of my resources i feel shes more for aggro decks anyway so im removing her

im putting in narset, parter of veils +2 its more card selection and it hose down control mu's game 1

im removing ashiok and putting it in the side

removing nicol bolas the ravager putting in one more dragon god.
yes its nice to play him on curve especially after discarding my opponents hand but i needed more consistency there are often times where i did not want to see that card

reacquiring issues:

layline of sanctity is a crazy card against this deck and ive been racking my bbrain on how to deal with it. theres literally no way to prevent it turn 0 so you have no options but to bounce it and discard it or counter it. 4 cryptics 2 rifts arent enough so i may want o put inter the roil in side. it all depends on how often i see that card but it is a huge problem

hexprof creatures also hose this deck. the only thing ms. Liliana was good for was getting rid of hexproof so im thinging of putting in far and away or maybe a card that have an oppent sac two creatures because anger of the goods dont always answer the hexproof carnage tyrant taught me that
