Deck Description

Different from most RDW decks by the addition of "Faithless Looting". Helps reduce amount of time mana-flooded or mana-starved. Almost always discard "Chandra's Pheonix" because it will return to your hand for free ("Gut Shot" is a great choice to return them).

Deck discussion for Red Deck Wins in Standard

Super, I really like this rendition. I would use Dragonskull summit however just cause you know that turn 4 you are gonna draw a stupid Blackcleave cliff and have to play it tapped. I guess with faithless looting you reduce the suck factor of that. But I think its almost impossible for you to get only your dual lands in your opening hand without at least one mountain. I like that you have reckless waif in there, but where is volt charge? too slow, too high a mana cost?

I'm open to being wrong about the using Blackcleave Cliffs. To me, it just seems that having my 4th land come in tapped is a lot less detrimental than my first coming in tapped. Nothing in this deck costs over 3 to cast. Basically, I'm risking a slower late-game to get a quicker start on average.

As far as I'm concerned, Volt Charge and Brimstone Volley are interchangeable. Volt Charge has good synergy with the Shrine and the Vampires/Bloodthirst. Brimstone Volley has a little extra damage. Personal preference really. However, when Avacyn Restored hits and "Vexing Devil" gets added to this deck, I believe Brimstone Volley will be superior.

Actually, you know, I made the observation about Volt Charge prior to my adding Gut Shot to the deck. Being able to drop a beefed-up Stormblood Berserker on turn 2 makes Volt Charge a clear outlier to the Brimstone Volley. Jury is still out for when Avacyn Restored hits.
