Deck Description

This deck is a response to a T2 deck challenge. And it's on a budget too!

My theory with Gideon's Avenger is that you should never build a deck around it. That observation was based on countless U/W decks with a bunch of single-use spells that tap creatures. This deck eliminates those spells by replacing blue with red.

Red gives me some interesting options. The best of them being Curse of the Nightly Hunt. This card forces a player to tap all of their creatures each turn, buffing Gideon's Avenger and clearing a path for my creatures to attack.

Cathedral Membrane can destroy pretty much any beasties it blocks, including the titans. Gain life by blocking with Pride Guardian (then you can afford to let a few through to hit). Hanweir Watchkeep gives me a good defender that can morph into a great attacker. Sunblast Angel if it gets to be too much.

Deck discussion for Gideon's Avenger

If you want to go nonstandard with this idea of yours, take a look at what I built a few days ago that may help:

The only down side to what I built is that I only splashed in white, whereas you want to have it a true dual color deck. Nonetheless, I can help you on the red side of your deck.
