Dragons that Pump and Flankers that flank.
First thing is first, creature control the burn cards are perfect for that. Incinerate and Lightning Bolt are perfect to keep things off the life total until something big comes along. The Flankers are get early on to get rid of smaller things and keep the enemy at bay while dragons come out. With Fledgling Dragon the more burn you use the bigger they get until they become Shivan Dragons and do real damage. Now there is a chance you have to deal with elf or goblin junk in which case Flamebreak is great to just clear the board and maintain control, since it only hurts players and creatures without flying the dragons are safe to do damage, but the biggest power player is the Rimescale and it's ability to freeze enemy creatures, using him for creature control maintains a safe playing field since you can freeze creatures as soon as they come into play and keep them that way. As long as the burn is used to control the field you can be sure to have a good safety net until you can get bigger creatures out and even some Crucibles in play to pump up the dragons. The unfortunate thing is that Flamebreak may cause you to sacrifice the Lancers but it is the cost of winning sometimes and when dealing with elf, goblin and other small creatures it's worth it, we all know how even two elf or goblins can spawn millions and how one small creature can be devastating if left out there to be tapped or to be powered up or sacrificed to get another spell out. So creature control is the biggest thing, make sure to keep the enemy creatures out of the way when the come out and use the flankers to push them back between burn spells until there are dragons out to do real damage.
