Oh man, the 26/14 split is a sexy classic. Not sure if you were purposely trying to get it that way, but it's a classic curve...VERY fast, but absolutely needs to use Skullclamp. The use of Boneyard is actually really nice for this =]

I've never quite been one for the 26/14 myself, I prefer the 10L, whilst admitting it has obvious flaws. This however is probably the best usage of the curve I've seen. I think Boneyard Wurm could become a powerful creature in Stompy designs such as this, what with Farmhand and the Augur, constituting a way to win the age old 'Goyf war. If you don't have any, and aim to play green a lot in legacy, I strongly suggest trying to save for a playset of Noble Hierarch. They've become a standby for good reason in aggro variations.

i have a phd in stompy now? :) well i appreciate the tribute deck. :D the guys are correct, the 26/14 split is a very strong and very old curve. in fact it was one of the things that inspired the first 10L design. i agree that boneyard wurm is a promising new beater for the optimal use of the 26/14 split, which plays so fast that it has some self-destructing tendencies, and should benefit from those tendencies. i think you could do better than garruk's companion for this though. for you, i would suggest trying out the more modern version of the 26/14 split (which is oddly a 26/10/4 but still called '26/14') with phyrexian soulgorger. and of course you should trade out the llanowars for noble heirarch. happy stomping! :D
Really? I've always heard that curve called SoulStomp, granted most stompy people I see are a bit out of the loop I think. Also, I think you've had your PhD for a while now when it comes to stompy Wumpus. Since whenever you made your 10L, at least I would take it as a dissertation on the subject.

In all reality companion was the last card i put in here and only because he was familiar lol I much prefer him in a pump-stomp. i'll look into the gorger lol
i think your confusion and/or difficulty with phyrexian soulgorger is an issue that befalls most players who first use it. you should almost never keep it around for more than 2 turns after you cast it. with a jump curve, the first turn after it is played you can sacrifice the mana dork and swing for 8 damage! If you miss the jump curve, then you should be able to provide enough creatures to sacrifice to fuel 2 turns worth of 8 damage swings. soulgorger is very self-destructive, and i almost never see it last for 3 full turns, but it is so strong that even if it attacks for just one turn it will provide 8 power worth of aggro, as well as at least 2 creatures in the graveyard! the thing to remember is that you should never try to over-extend with soulgorger. if it needs to die, then kill it. happy stomping! :D
Have you ever thought about writing a book on the subject Wumpus? Because I think you're qualified. Also for a while I ran Soulgorger in a strange version of MBC, and it devastates if used properly.

After seeing this, I think I just found my solution for a modern adaptation of the filth deck I'm working on for standard. It's a card I'd normally pass over without a second glance, but Soulgorger just keeps getting better and better the more I think about it ^-^ Plus, he makes Infiltration Lens a (sort of) viable replacement for Skullclamp.
when you have Phyrexian Soulgorger's cumulative upkept can that trigger Diligent Farmhand or Llanowar Augur's abilty? still an awesome deck :)
If you sacrifice something you cannot sacrifice it to something else. If you were to sacrifice it to the gorger then sacrifice it for it's own ability when the stack resolved you would still need to sac something to the gorger.
Wooded Foothills? I don't understand. Is it there for the Tarmogoyf? Is there a landfall creature I am not seeing?
You will commonly see pain fetches in competitive decks, just because they pull 2 lands from your library for the cost of one. This reduces the land count and therefore makes it less likely that you'll top-deck a land and providing better card advantage (usable cards in hand). This is very important, especially for stompy decks, where card advantage is typically in short supply.
Actually the thinning of a playset of fetches is almost unnoticeable, mathematically it's so insignificant that it's only really useful to run fetches in mono-coloured decks if you have library manipulation such as Sylvan Library, Sensei's Divining Top, or Brainstorm.

It's a pretty small increase in the % chance of drawing any given non-land card, but when you add up the change in % of each non-land card, the change is...while still small (1-2%) is a significant help. If you look at the probability of drawing any one card in a deck, it's VERY small, so you gotta think in terms of those teeny tiny numbers...
It may be significant, but in my experience, at least, running fetch lands does seem to help avoid top-decking more lands. Most important for this deck is Goyf, I suppose, and also a chance to reshuffle if you suspect something's fishy with your topdecks.
Still looking at the numbers, it's still not as much that I'd be willing to pay life for it :/ However with Tarmogoyf... Things change fast.

Ok, if you think of it this way...60 card deck with all 10 playsets and 20 lands, 4 of which are fetches. Draw 7 initial cards. Let's say, 4 spells and 3 lands. There are now 53 cards in your deck -- 36 spells, 17 lands. You have about a 7.5% chance of drawing one of the playset spells next turn, and about a 32% chance to draw a land the next turn. If on your first turn you play a fetchland though...you now lower your deck to 52 cards -- 36 spells, and 16 lands. This now means that you have about a 7.7% chance of drawing one of the playsets and about a 30% chance to draw a land. So you get about a 2% lowered chance of drawing a land and about 0.2% higher chance of drawing any given playset card. 0.2% is HIGHER than the difference between the Patron disadvantage vs. House advantage in casinos. My point being...It might not seem like much, but it works =]
Oh, and if you're confused about the percentages not adding to 100%, they do. 7.5 times 9 (10th set in hand) = 67.5 and 32.5% (extra 0.5% in hand) + 67.5% = 100% Math + Magic = FUN! d( ' . ')b

Bah, the House vs. Patron thing always bothered me. The actual percentage is I think 0.162something, but that shifts dramatically when people drink :D And Environmental Geoscience is actually a gaining field, woefully underrepresented in the media(I've heard them called Geophysicists DX), but respected by many. I myself want to become a clinical Psychologist, but that is in fact a rather lofty goal with the cost of medical school...
