The Last

Main Deck (60 cards)

Artifacts (4)

Enchantments (3)

Sideboard (0 cards)

No sideboard found.

The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

The last deck I'll ever make - Good riddance, right? lol

A long pause is due after this is completed - a mix a Black and Green, my two favorite colors :)
The pause ended..
Enjoy

[Edit]:
Added 4 x Skullclamps which will serve as a draw engine from hell. Bloodghast and Nether Traitor will fuel its purpose and the Verdant will first and foremost act as a landfall trigger + the mana needed when Traitor is in the GY. Should the combo fail, a "safety" back-up can be found in regrowth.
I really wanted 2-3 Grave Pacts in here, but I just don't know what to replace - any advice?

[Edit]: I've removed Regrowth entirely, in favor for 4 Putrefy. Don't know if this will make more efficient, but I'll give it a whirl and report afterwards, also I got 3 Grave Pact to fit in :-)

Deck discussion for The Last

Bloodghast seems unnesccary and despite fauna shama i would run another place set of things you would want to reanimate, And as your reanimating i wouldnt run vengevine his ability is not normally going to activate

Thanks for the comment. I see what you mean, in fact I've thought about it for some time. The Vengevines are in here, because they were a gift from my wife (don't know where else to put them)
Should I make this a mono black? (I've already got a mono black deck, which I use regulary "Black Magic") I was kind'a hoping to make a "mish-mash" of my two favorite colors - Black and Green.
What would you suggest?

Vengevine not work with reanimate, only with the cheap elves, not to much elves to run Gilt-Leaf Palace too, and a tapped land would not help you. You need speed, consider Lotus Petal. Also, Kokusho, the Evening Star is your only win condition? Is not a bad idea, but you need more steam, Bloodghast could be removed for Putrid Imp too. Like you said, i only run Jin Gitaxias and Iona like amazing control and win conditions, and then creatures with shroud or hexproof, but that`s me, you have creatures like Sheoldred, Whispering One, Blazing Archon or Griselbrand, plus the ones you saw in my deck, to think about adding some big guy in the deck. Thanks for comment my deck, and hopes it helps.

Hi Sieg021 :) Thank you for commenting - You definately gave me something to think about. I think, it'll serve better as a mono black, and a damn shame. This is my last deck so I was hoping to wreck havoc, but I see now that it's weak :-/
Putrid Imp looks like a house ! I'm already on the hunt for some :) Sheoldred too.

Hi B/G Rock Reanimator,

You asked me to take a look at your deck.

Well first off, I doubt this will be your last deck. I stopped for a while too, having your first child can do that. But all to soon that baby is a bright young child and suddenly Magic is great game to teach reading, simple math and probability (at least that's what I told my wife) and later Game Theory, Statistics, and Machiavellianism ;-)

As you probably already know using cards from Graveborn pack could really help your deck.

Rather that telling how to make your deck look more like a tourney Reanimator let me say if this deck is for casual play, which I assume it is, since it doesn't have a sideboard the following are some mean evil tricks you can add if your gaming group does't mind adding a few banned or restricted cards to your deck along with some general advise.

Currently your deck is trying to do too much. Either make it reanimator deck or a grave pact deck or a fauna shaman deck but all of them.

If gravepact add some search spells to find grave pact vampiric tutor (expensive) or diabolic intent (cheaper) and add 4 nether traitor to deck to work with bloodghast and add maybe 4 Blood Artist and 4 Phyrexian Altar. Phyrexian Altar + Nether Traitor + Blood Artist = Infinite life for you infinite life loss for opponents. And if play group allow 4 Vampiric Tutors go for the gusto an add 4 regrowths. Culling the weak to 4 and add maybe even 4 Dark Rituals.

If your going for reanimator well Bazaar of Bhagdad (crazy expensive) , frantic search, and Windfall are your possible banned evil stuff, but you will need to convert mana base to black and blue. Also increase exhume to 4, add 4 entombs, and but in some really evil creatures like Jin Gitaxias, Iona, Sheoldred, Whispering One, Blazing Archon or Griselbrand.

Death's shadow is not really a good card in this deck unless you put in cards that help you reduce your life like Wall of Souls or a bunch of phyrexian mana cards like Noxious Revival, Surgical Extraction, and Mental Misstep. Personally, I'd drop this card with out hesitation.

If your going for fauna shaman the obvious restricted card to add is Survival of the Fittest and make the deck like an old school Survival deck.

I found the following Fauna Shaman deck that greatly resembles some of your deck it should give you clear ideas to go toward.

Jund version of Fauna Shaman deck
taken from http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?22599-Strategy-Fauna-Shaman-amp-Vengevine

4x Fauna Shaman
4x Vengevine
4x Bloodghast
4x Boggart Ram-Gang
4x Vampire Nighthawk
4x Bloodbraid Elf
1x Troll Ascetic
1x Thrun, the Last Troll
1x Kitchen Finks
1x Eternal Witness
4x Lightning Bolt
4x Maelstrom Pulse
2x Broodmate Dragon

May you always make your own good luck

Just wanna' remind you that if you cast 'Buried alive' getting 2 bloodghast and 1 vengevine, if ever you drop a land and the 2 bloodghast gets reanimated, doesn't mean that the 1 vengevine will automatically get reanimated too. But vengevine can be reanimated with Cascade though

Playtest Basking Rootwalla.

Hi Mashitta !
Thanks for the comment :-)
I know the Vine doesn't get "reanimated" due to landfall, but thanks for reminding me :-D
I'll check your decks, and Basking Rootwalla looks awesome.
However, the last cards that are going in to this, have already been ordered, and I don't know when (or if) I'm returning back to M:tG.
It's a fun and well-thought-of TCG but due to, lets say... human "flaws"... I'm forced to put in on the shelf for a good long while. Magic had become my sole purpose, and everything could be converted into it. You could go as far as to say I was strung out addicted. Well..
NO MORE !

I think what's really important in playing MTG is that you must have fun. It doesn't really need to be powerful. I checked out your other decks and I'm pretty sure that your really know how the game must be played. You can comeback anytime and still have a decent understanding on the mechanics.

Good luck! See ya`~

You are too kind :) I don't think I would ever reach the level of deck building you are residing :-O
In truth I did have alot of fun with mtg, but when it became an obsession, plus a burden for my wife, we both sat down and sorted out the situation. She helped me realize, that its good to have fun, but stuff like food and clothes are more important
Not that I'm finger-pointing, I think its awesome that so many share the interest and join a community to get wiser and maybe even friends or foes, depending, haha
Again, thank you for the kind words :-D

You did the right thing. You "sacrificed" your hobby to "gain" more love from your wife. Just like MTG XD.
A day would come when you would realized that you just did the right thing.

Btw, our playing group allows Proxy/Printed Cards, we usually do that on overly expensive cards. At the end of the day, even the most expensive "Lotus Petal" is still & and will always be a piece of paper.

Just enjoy what you're doing and it will always get better. Thanks too Blackfire Phoenix! See ya~

Hi YamiKiri :)
Thank you for the comments - yeah, Blooghast and Skullclamp is a dirty combo, hehe.
I have a playset of Reassembling Skeletons, and thought of replacing them with the Elves Of Deep Shadow.
Rotting Rats seem maniacally evil! and unearth to boot OP !

Not sure of ht elves of deep shadow. You already have BOP. Maybe some madness/discard/unearth cards instead.

We can never say if it's "The Last". Have a nice break and be better next time.

Hi Porpramu !
I was suggested "Basking Rootwalla" to speed up the Vine combo, I just can't force myself into buying more cards ATM. Its too painful for my mind :-/

Maybe at some point in the distant, foggy future, I'll dust off my decks and look at M:tG again :-)
Thanks Bro, the new struggle will be to figure out what to do instead, haha

Sorry Porpramu, I didn't answer your question.
Regarding the Elves, they're meant as either scapegoats, burn targets or giving my opponents the notion that since they damage myself, they must be bad. But death can come in many forms i guess ;)

Haha - I used to run a deck similar to this that would use Ashnod's Altar, Pawn of Ulamog and the clamp to churn out a massive Exsanguinate. Fun times.

Could you take a minute to check out my deck?

With the recurring creatures its works like a charm, plus deck thinning from buried alive/pain lands. Truth be told, I've wanted to finish with a more *bam* *pow* deck... like a dragon reanimator, but the funds just aren't there :-/
Commented BTW :)

I like the deck as G/B, but the Fauna Shamans don't accomplish much because your important creatures can just be brought back again. Vengevine is good but not amazing, I would consider a Golgari Gravetroll or two instead of some Vengevine as a way to get more Ghasts and Traitors to your grayeyard. Possibly add some Marsh Flats and Misty Rainforest for additional Ghast triggers. Add 3 of the lands total and drop the Llanowar Wastes and 1 Ziggurat. add in the final Grave Pacts for some Fauna Shamans. I think this would give you a pretty solid deck with a lot of easy recursion

Hi jwall!
Good call on the Golgari Grave-Troll, I think I might have one or two sitting around in my drawer's ;-) I'll definitely give it some serious thought. Dredge is spooky, are there any chances of "Dredging" yourself to death?
Painlands are good, no question about that, but what is questionable is my budget... :-/
Thanks for the advices, you seem like you know a great deal about Magic. Cool

I understand what you mean. I don't have all of the cards in my Vault decks but use them to keep track of what i want my decks to turn into. so you may not have all of the cards yet but as you get them you can add them to the actual deck. Instead of the Painlands maybe use a few Terramorphic Expanse instead, their cheap and accommplish the same thing. Early game they stabilize the mana base and later they can top deck as a renewal for the Ghasts

Hi again :)
I went through my drawers, but no Golgari Grave-Troll... shame. Terramorphic looks like a really easy-to-get mana fixer, although I have 4 Verdant Catacombs, I might add a couple TE's. It will happen over a long period of time, I need to keep mtg at bay, not let it dominate my entire day, as it used to...
Thanks for the advice !

Is Bloodghast usually the first target for your Buried Alive?
If so;

My old Grave Pact deck deck ran a load of fetchlands, the non-painful variety, Evolving & Terrmorphic, and a single Mountain to go with all the swamps. Bloodghasteses (plural? LOL) got sac'ed every turn.
Pawn of Ulamog helped here, as did the G'Pact.
Point is, the single mountain loved having a creature in the graveyard - Anger.
Every turn I attacked with the Bloodghasts, sac'ed them, rinsed and repeateses.

I also ran a couple of Helm of Possession for LOLz should anyone actually have something worth stealing, like a Blightsteel Colossus. If you're going to try it, just be mindful, the Helm is a good support for Grave Pact, but both in play isn't good.

Hi again Slave !

The first targets for Buried Alive are usually the Vines, but if I have a painland in hand or on the draw, I tend to fetch the... Ghastes err... esses, uhm...Ghasts'...?? haha. Nether Traitor will always be that last I consider early-game. I was thinking about replacing one or two Traitor's with Nether Shadow - will be automatically returned from GY to the battlefield at beginning of upkeep, if there are three or more creatures above it. OP'ed little bastard, hehe

Commented on your SAC deck, btw - looks awesome :-D

I like the fact that you decided to take a break from the game (or at least, that's what I understood), but keep in touch with the community. I really appreciate it, because you seems quite the player and possibly have something to teach.

As for the deck, it's definitely something special. Great battlefield manipulation, and awesome assortment of cards to deal with any kind of situation.
What I would do here is adding Blood Artist, to fully take advantage of Grave Pact and Skullclamp suicides. I would remove fauna shamans (4 buried alive shall be enough in my opinion) or the elves (birds of paradise are enough too).
Other than that, really awesome.
Bravo Blackfire :)

:'-D And I do keep in touch with MTG Vault, because I've never seen such dedication from players all around the globe, trying to improve card strategies, and also its even more awesome to be able to help others in need of advice ^_^
I don't own any Blood Artists', but when time comes, and I'm returning to the game (if that'll happen) I'll definitely get a playset to this one.
Again, thank you for posting a comment like that, I am truely grateful :D
