I wanted to build a deck for a friend who is just getting into magic. I am using only cards from the new m14 set that i have gotten in drafts to do this. This, in my opinion, is a simple deck that has a bit more to it than some other colors that would just drop a big guy and attack, it gives them more of an opportunity to learn to understand how instants and some other stuff works. also no rares as I am not giving up rares, they may be a good friend but not that good :P any and all suggestions would be great :) thank you everyone

It has some 'Mother May I' feel to it, but I feel that the Warden could use some more friends. Besides countering and manipulating the board, blue is well known for its fliers. Possibly add in some Messenger Drakes for more card advantage. And though this goes against the Warden's utility, Archaeomancer is undoubtedly one of the best blue commons in the core set, and should be utilized. Let's face it, if you're blue, what's better than being able to bring back MORE of your counters that you already used? Besides that, the only other thing I can think to include would be Time Ebb, because for one mana more than Disperse you can ruin someone's tempo by putting their big baddie right back onto the draw pile.

it is 16 flyers that can benefit from the warden but i get your point, I do really like time ebb i must have missed that one... also do you have any idea why spell blast and glimpse the future are uncommon if cancel and divination are better and are common? it seems that some of blues uncommon slots are crud :(
Time Ebb is a sorcery that is why I left it out of the mix, i knew i had a reason
So... Only Instants?Yeah, i can see why you went the route of Disperse then. Though, in all honesty, you're kind of removing a good portion of blue defense. I don't really know why Spell Blast made it to the uncommon range, seeing as you have to pump extra into it. The only reason I could ascertain is that it's for use in a multicolor format, since it's easier to pull that off in multiplayer rather than a Cancel which ties up two of the same mana color. Glimpse the Future is actually another one I would see being better for use in multicolor format, especially BU or GU since it basically gives you graveyard fodder.
