I thought I was being creative when Pioneer was first announced. Then later, when I actually assembled this deck out of my random collection, some people at my local game store told me this deck was already played so I wasn't as original as I thought. Well, this is my twist on the traditional Boros Feather deck themed a bit more on token synergies rather than casting just 1cmc spells.*If you want to save more money, you can find budget alternatives for the land base. The shock lands are the most expensive card in the deck. When this deck was first made, I had only 1 copy of Young Pyromancer so the other 3 copies were replaced with Monastery Mentor. The nice part of Monastery Mentor is the tokens made are much stronger. The downside is it costs 3 instead of 2 mana.
No matter how you play the deck, Feather is key. Cast a bunch of your 1 cmc spells with him in play to do the following:- Generate tons of tokens with Young Pyromancer. This can deal tons of damage when you have Impact Tremors.- Put lots of +1/+1 counters on your creatures by targeting your Phalanx Leader. To help close out the game I included one copy of Secure the Waste to being a form of direct damage with Impact Tremors.Dreadhorde Arcanist is a great way to restock your hand from the graveyard. While Feather is in play, Dreadhorde Arcanist's ability to cast spells from your graveyard will return them to your hand after cast from Feather's ability. Daxos along with any token generators allow for some burst life gain which works great against aggro/burn decks. Finally, I included one copy of Swift Justice to give a little life back in the late game for when you've shocked your self a few too many times from your land base.
