Deck Description

A budget B/W deck with lots of synergy, designed so that any action you take creates a chain of events that bulk both you and your creatures up.

NOTE: Suggestions needed, a lot of the cards in this deck are from M14 and Ravnica, I need replacements for when they cycle out. Khans spoilers would be nice Wizards :).

How to Play

This Deck curves out at 3 CMC, so ideally you want a starting hand with at least 2 land, especially if one is a Temple so you can scry and draw into the last land you need. Sunbond has CMC of 4, but it's not the main focus here.

Play Land, gain life and +1/+1 counters.
Destroy a creature, gain life and +1/+1 counters.
Destroy Artifacts or enchantments, gain life and +1/+1 counters.
Damage an opponent, gain life and +1/+1 counters.

The playmaker is Ajani's Pridemate, it's imperative that you keep this thing alive, since you can trigger multiple instance of lifegain per turn, he gets big very quickly. Gift of Orzhova is a very powerful enchantment for him to have, giving him evasion and the ability to self trigger. Throwing Sunbond on top of that, you can effectively double his power every time you attack, and then gain even more power on top of that.

Example starting hand:
Ajani's Pridemate, Gift of Orzhova, Temple of Silence, Radiant Fountain, Swamp, Banisher Priest, Brave the Elements.
Turn 1: Temple of Silence
Turn 2: Plains, Ajani's Pridemate.
Turn 3: Swamp, Gift of Orzhova on Ajani. Swing for 3 flying dmg, gain 3 life, Ajani becomes 4/4
Turn 4: Radiant Fountain, gain 2, Ajani becomes 5/5, swing for 5 flying, gain 5 life Ajani becomes 6/6. Play Wall of Essence. Block an opponent's attack, gain X life, Ajani becomes 7/7
Turn 5 Radiant Fountain, Ajani becomes 8/8 swing for 8, gain 8 Ajani becomes 9/9
Turn 6 Swing for 9, victory.

Duress, Banisher Priest, Pharika's cure and solemn offering provide comprehensive removal on anything your opponent can throw down.

Thoughtseize is very expensive and whilst Duress doesn't have as much versatility, getting to see your opponent's hand and throw away any dangerous instants or sorceries is never a bad thing.

Doomblade is sideboarded over Pharika's cure simply because of the added lifegain and they can easily be swapped if you find yourself dealing with decks that like to throw out early big beasties, though for most aggro decks 2 damage is usually more than enough to kill most of their early creatures.

Stain the mind, I think, is a very useful card to have sideboarded. Once you know the key cards in an opponent's deck you can dispose of them quickly, using convoke to deal with the high mana cost. Ruin an opponent's strategy by quickly exiling their playset of Grey Merchants or Master of Waves.

Ajani is there simply to fill out the 15 cards in the sideboard, although his +1 can provide Pridemate with a lot of benefit if you play against an opponent with a lot of enchant removal.
