BURN IT ALL! BURN IT FAST! The idea came when looking for red "dark ritual" type cards to help cast "dragon storm." I saw "braid of fire" and thought HOLY SHIT! I got so excited i forgot "dragon storm" wasn't an instant. Then I tried running the two with "leyline of anticipation" but my dragon skills were just plain crap. So I made this... still not so good... The first time i saw Braid of Fire i was just like you, almost got an orgasm! But but but Then i started to read, because it was just to good to be true. And sorry to spoil everything, but here's the explanation: You get the mana from Braid in your upkeep, and when you change phase, to your main phase, you loose the unused mana. This happens every time you change phase. Unless a card says something like "Your mana pool doesnt empty at end of phases" - It's actually a old rule; "The Fix: Mana pools now empty at the end of each step and phase, which means mana can no longer be floated from the upkeep to the draw step, nor from the declare attackers step to the declare blockers step of combat." yeah i realized that too when i was tryin tocast "dragon storm." thats why this deck is all instants
Yeah, I know how you felt fellow burn user, but, the sad truth is, have that in your deck, and you have to pay more mana, and then suddenly you have less mana than you would want. Speaking of mana, you have too many fetch lands, I know that they are awesome, but you have less mountain than fetchlands, and that is not so good, because when you get the fetchlands out and you already have all your mountains out, they are essentially deck fillers that will slow the deck down, it should be more or less equal so take out four of what ever fetchlands and add more mountains. Its a good deck though mate :D Check out my deck too please :) http://mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=141872
im not worried about the fethclands. the reason theres so many is too make sure im guarenteed a dual land first turn in case i need to cast "enlightened tutor." with this deck, i either win or lose before i can get eight lands out so it doesnt really matter. if you could give me some advice to improve the deck's midgame thatd be awesome; and then yeah, id cut back on fetches. i am interested in hearing your reasoning on "braid of fire" making u pay more mana then having less. how could this be. the card gives u mana, it doesnt use it...?
you didnt see the time counter thing, it says you will have to sacrifice it unless you pay mana equal to the number of time counters on it. And there is a time counter added each turn.
i think youre reading it wrong. the cumulative upkeek is to add a mana. normally yes, u spend mana on a cumulative upkeep, but this card ADDS one mana for each time counter on it. if you also had to pay 1 for each counter you would just spend the mana the card added and itd be a dead ant totally pointless card
