Deck Description

Inspired by hollowin's Aegis deck http://www.mtgvault.com/hollowin/decks/multiplayer-aegis/ I really put a lot of thought into this deck. It is meant for a multiplayer. Specifically it should work great in a Free For All Game, but should do just fine in other formats. It is meant to be a fun deck that never gets old for you. It allows you to build a nice defense while playing politics and cloning your opponents creatures. I also made sure not to include any "control creature" spells because I hate them :D

How to Play

Fog Bank and Guard Gamozoa are your key blockers and defense set. Really the only thing you will have to worry about with them is giant trample creatures, but your Dissipation Field should take care of that.

Clever Impersonator is a great card, it can copy anything from an enchantment to a planeswalker. It can also be returned to your hand (with other cards in this deck)if need be to change it. Cryptoplasm also is great as it constantly can upgrade creatures.

Aetherling is a nice card that can win the game for you if necessary and it can disappear if targeted or any other reason needed. Your Sphinx also fills a similar role. And Thassa can help the sphinx, is indestructible, and Scry's for you.

Rite of Replication needs to be saved when you can kick it, and its is just awesome as it gives you 5, make sure you pick wisely.

This deck also has some nasty instants that punish any person foolish enough to attack you. In fact, you can even do it when an opponent attacks another opponent.

Jace is a nice planeswalker that draws you cards, and also can win you the game with library hate if needed.

A brilliant card in this deck is bidet of thassa. It can be a winner. Imagine forcing your opponent to attack with all his creatures. It gives you several options. If he attacks you, block/or have an instant ruin his day, followed by an attack by you. If he doesn't attack you, then hey, he is attacking your opponent! Doesn't get much better than that.

Soul Foundry works great in this deck. For example imagine a copied Cryptoplasm.

Ivory Tower is a nice little addition with the Reliquary Tower and work great with Evacuation. It may not seem like much, but I've seen the Tower help surprisingly well in multiplayer games.

Deck discussion for Blue Deja Vu

Do I see a bit of influence from my Aegis deck? I'm flattered! I'd forgotten how great Sphinx of magosi was in multiplayer, and Reliquary+Evacuate sounds like a laugh-riot!

I see my old friend cryptoplasm, who I just can't stop gushing about. Metamorph is even better, but I feel bad about spending that much on a single card.

What about cackling counterpart? Useful self-clone early game, devastating repeat performance of your boss-creature later, and technically card advantage, if you get to use it twice.

A very solid deck; I wish you luck with this build at the table!

For sure I was inspired by the Aegis deck, it was a great deck, that I wanted to tweak a bit for my play group. I decided to drop the other colors and just go monoblue. I like cackling counterpart, but not sure which card to drop. I'm debating actually making this deck, or my Children of the Night deck. I was set on the Children of the Night, but Ive always wanted a deck based on Vesuvan Doppleganger (or at least the concept) since forever, and when I saw your Aegis Deck the possibilities became clear, and now Im stuck LOL.

made a tweak, came across Glen Elendra Archmage! So many options with her. On her own, she is a counter spell that can happen twice. She can bock in an emergency. Once she comes back from the graveyard, she can be returned with a capsize to remove the counter. Or she can simply be copied by one of the creatures or even followed footsteps.

I can't decide between this and "thatthingagain". This one is good suited for all sorts of multiplayer, but more importantly: You said you will buy the cards of the "winning" deck and, well, many of the cards here are cards you can reuse in a lot of decks in the future (Ivory Tower, Rite of Replication, Fog Bank and so on).

Unlike your green fatty deck this deck can actually create value, has some suprises and gamewinners without having to flood the board with onedimensional fatties. However, it does not really have a theme other than bouncing things, so it's hard for me to make suggestions.

* Cryptoplasm isn't really good since he needs to survive a full turn as a vanilla 2/2 until he can copy something else. You could use good old Vesuvan Doppelganger instead. You should have the time for 5 mana in MP FFA and you should be able to get them for cheap these days.

* 3 AEtherize + 3 Disspiation Field (along other selected bounce) seems a bit excessive to me, especially since you don't have anything to prevent things from coming back. You also will get in trouble if opponents run things with come-into-play-effects (which almost everybody does) ... so I would either cut down a bit here and add cards instead that can steal things OR add cards that help you get rid of bounced things:
- Treachery is great but probably too expensive (money wise)
- Confiscate
- Spelljack
- Teferi's Puzzlebox
- Windfall (this also acts as carddraw - you get attacked, cast AEtherize, or Evacuation EOT, their hands are full, then in your turn you Windfall, getting rid if their creatures and you draw a full hand, too!)

* Mystical Tutor is banned in Legacy and restricted in Vintage, which is why your deck is currently not legal in any format, so replace one of them with Merchant Scroll.

* I think Mimic Vat is much better than Soul Foundry.

Made a few tweaks per your suggestions. You like Mimic Vat over the soul foundry? The vats creatures go away, while the foundry's creatures don't. Why do you think the vat is better in this deck? Also, I actually have 4 copies of Vesuvan Dopleganger. They are worn as hell, and have seen many games of magic, but aren't currently in any of my decks. I LOVE that card and always wanted it in a more modern deck, but when I saw Cryptoplasm I though it was superior here. 2 mana cheaper, yes it takes a turn to get to something, but if the opponent wants to get rid of it, most cards that get rid of a Cryptoplasm (minus direct damage) will get rid of a doppleganger. But maybe just for nostalgia sake :D I'll include it.

oh and what about the aetherspouts over aetherize? takes care of the little problem of their creatures not going away.

This might again be a metagame call. If creatures live that long in your meta, then maybe Soul Foundry could be better - however, it requires you to imprint a creature from your own hand. That's card disadvantage and you are limited to what you have in the deck (and half of them are walls). Mimic Vat gives you access to a broader range of things including things your deck might missing like artefact removal. Also, Mimic Vat costs just 3 to activate, no matter what you imprint, while Foundry requires you to pay the full converted mana cost. Mimic Vat might end up with something like Akroma imprinted and you can still get it for 3. ALSO, for what it's worth, if Vat imprints something, it is exiled - sometimes it good to stash away a Blood Ghast, Genesis or similar there to prevent it from coming back.
You decide how much of that is relevant for your group.

Maybe try 2 Cryptos and 2 Doppelgänger and see which one works better :)
