Deck discussion for 1st Deck

i love to see these kinds of decks, a new magic players first attempt at a deck is always the best time to get the basics of a good deck understood
first off, if at all possible try to find playsets (sets of 4) of your favorite cards with which to build your deck around. The less different cards a deck has the more consistent the deck will play, this while make it more likely that you will draw the cards that you need most. Second make sure you obey the rules of a good mana curve. This simply means that one should have an ample number of cards at each of the respective costs respectable to the deck. For example a 20 land deck should probably rely on lower cost cards as 20 is generally the minimum number of lands one wants in a deck. However if you wish to utilize cards like serra angel above one should try to put more lands into their deck to make sure that you are able to pay the mana cost of the card. Lastly one should try to stick to the minimum number of cards possible, 60 in a pre constructed environment.

In the deck above you really have two choices, either to go the angelic control route, serra angel journey to nowhere and the such, or to go the route of the soldier, elite vangaurd armorsmith etc
either way i would advise you to drop stormfront pegasus, totem guide, ulamogs crusher, griffin sentinel, and ionas judgement regardless of which route you choose
simply dropping these cards will bring down the mana curve of the deck and make it more consistent bringing it down to 61 cards, by playing the game you will eventually choose the route you want to go with this but for now i think that these slight tweaks will vastly improve your deck and remember just because a card is strong or has a good effect doesnt necessarily make it a good card, cards must be strong or have a good enough effect for the cost, for example ulamogs crusher is good but waiting a minimum of 8 turns to play him is a major downside that one cant overlook
