Deck Description

Red and Black Deck built around The Deathbringer Thocter and his mechanic.

This deck is mostly about Sacrificing. I put 3 of both the Gravecrawler and the Reassembling Skeletons in this deck to act as fodder to build the Deathbringers strength. If Liliana get's her ultimate off that will allow me to produce extra mana to bring back these creatures multiple times for extra +1 counters.

When the Deathbringer gets enough counters his ability to use counters to do one damage to a creature or player can wipe a board of creatures or deal just enough damage to a player to win the game.

I've added Corrosive Mentor to give the Deathbringers ability Wither. With wither his damage to creatures do -1-1 counters which work the same way as dealing 1 damage to a creature except it's permanent and is more effective against big creatures and indestructible threats such as Eldrazi.

Fling and Mark of mutiny added to temporarily take control of opponents creatures and to sac them before the end of turn dealing double damage to players from their own creature. Fling also acts as a fail safe win condition if a player has to much defense and only has a small amount of life left to defeat him.

Boseiju, who shelters all has been added to prevent fling from being canceled in last ditch effort situations.

Scavenger drake and Rockslide are added for their similar effects to Deathbringer.

Tratcher revolt is a great way to get quick +1 counters.

Thinking about adding in an Insurrection as a late game win condition.

Deck is still being tweaked and modified to make it as effective as possible. Let me know what you think.

How to Play

The way this deck works is all about Sacrificing creatures.

The creature's you want to get out right away are the Sacers and the Sacies. Your Gravecrawlers and Reassembling skeletons
Then the Bloodflow Connoisseurs and the Viscera Seers

After you set up your sacrifice loops with the cards mentioned above you work on bringing out your Deathbringer Thoctar, Rockslide elementals and Scavenger drakes.

One everything is in place you can sacrifice the Skeletons and Gravecrawlers to pump up the Deathbringer, Rockslide and Drakes.

When the Deathbringer Thoctar gets big enough he can use his plus one counters to do damage to creatures and players. (This ability does not require tapping so it can use it over and over again) If you have enough counters you can often times wipe a board of creatures or ping a player until he dies.

Corrosive mentor and Blade of the bloodchief are added to enhance the Deathbringers ability. Corrosive mentor gives his +1 pinging ability wither which is more effective against bigger and indestructible creatures.

Blade of the Bloodchief speeds up the counter production for the deathbringer.

For later game play Mark of mutiny is added to remove opposing creatures. When you take control of a creature using Mark of mutiny you can attack with their own creature and before you finish your turn you can sacrifice their creature before they can get it back using bloodflow and Viscera. (If you have a fling in your hand it is even more fun to use fling on their creature to sacrifice it and to do extra damage to player.)

Planeswalker Liliana was added for mana production and to make it so Skeletons and Gravecrawler can be recycled more per turn.

Tibalt was added for his ultimate, Still considering whether to keep or not.

Boseiju land was added to keep people from canceling fling. When fling gets cancelled it can have devastating effects on your game plan and it has cost me a win in the past.

Thatcher Revolt is meant to be played after Deathbringer, Rockslide or Scavanger have entered the battlefield to help speed up counter development.

Deck discussion for Deathbringer (Grab and Sac)

I can think of a few cards you could add. Blood cultist is nice because you can even damage your own creatures than sac them for a +1/+1 counter. Also, death greeter and/ or blood artist might be nice too. Hissing iguana is similar as well. Grave pact would be a really good edition too I think as it lets you get creatures out of the way for deathbringer! My final suggestion is lyzolda, the blood witch. Just read her ability and I think you'll agree that she'd fit perfectly in this deck. Hope that helps...

Nice i'll take those idea's into consideration. I did have gravepact in this deck but i removed it. I can't remember the exact reason why.

It's tricky trying to figure out which creatures who allow you to sac would be best for this deck. I was thinking about using Skirsdag Cultist mainly because it only cost one mana to cast and it does 2 damage to a creature.

Iyzolda seems like a good choice too the only thing I don't like about Izolda is that it cost 2 mana to use her sac ability. Blood cultist would work great with skeletons and gravecrawler.

I do really like the idea of the blood artist though. I'll keep these suggestions in mind. Thanks :D
