Deck Description

Turn 3 Kill! Use Duskmantle Guildmage to combo with Mindcrank for infinite loss of life and mill!

How to Play

Optimal play:
Turn 1 - Aether Vial
Turn 2 - Add counter to Aether Vial, play Mindcrank
Turn 3 - Add counter to Aether Vial, use Aether Vial to play Duskmantle Guildmage, activate his ability, pay 2 life to Gutshot and you win!

Info:
Duskmantle Guildmage's ability is until the end of the turn, so it stays even if he goes. Aether Vial makes it hard to stop him before he hits play and his ability goes off. Even if you do his ability and he gets killed before it leaves the stack, his ability still goes off.

You can also activate the ability on your opponent's turn. Once the combo activates, unless Mindcrank is destroyed, ANY card going to the graveyard starts it up. So if you Gutshot and your opponent counters, the counter card goes to the graveyard, game over.

If you don't get Aether Vial going, I typically wait to cast Duskmantle when I can put him down and activate him the same turn (usually Turn 4 or 5).

Other cards:

Shred Memory, Dimir Infiltrator, and Muddle the Mixture all can be used to Tutor any card in the deck except Aether Vial, Thoughseize, and Gut shot. Shred Memory is a worthless card, for the most part other than the Transmute ability. Dimir Infiltrator can be your catalyst and come in with Aether Vial too, and help suck up some removal (at least in game one).

Thoughtseize, Dimir Charm, and Ghost Quarter get the combo activated too.

Sideboard is designed to handle creature heavy decks. Countersquall, Dimir Charm, Mana Leak, and Thoughseize are typically my replacement candidates.

Looks like that would be a good sideboard card, Aetherize is another card that goes in and out of my sideboard to slow down a creature swarm without wiping out my side.

Nice combo! Pretty efficient at 3 cards.

I especially liked the part where you tapped stuff. ; )

I have realized with counterspells in the deck, opponents are waiting to blow up Mindcrank in Games 2 and 3 until I seemingly am out of options. In one game, I got the combo all out and tapped out everything except one Ghost Quarter and combo was active. I Gutshotted, in response the opponent cast Naturalize to destroy Mindcrank. I tapped Ghost Quarter in response to that to start the combo in response, which completely milled and killed by opponent before his Naturalize went off on the stack.
