Deck Description

So as a magic lover and as a self proclaimed lore whore, I searched and pondered a lich deck for at least 2 years. It seemed impossible for a long time because I was thinking too much into how i was going to protect and keep lich on the field but that felt like a momentous task seeing as my playgroup has an unnatural obsession with blue (mono U, UG, and RUG respectively). So naturally I tried out other decks and ideas but none seemed to satisfy me and my itching for immortality. Finally I came across CommanderFun's deck; The Lich. That was enough inspiration for me to research in depth on a bunch of different combos within black and white as well as looking at similar decks. I want to sincerely thank CommanderFun here on mtg vault, Ulka on mtg salvation, and HardCasting on mtg salvation. Without these bad liches I wouldn't have been able to reach lichdom myself. My deck is essentially an ever evolving amalgamation of their decks and it is my precious lich child. Please bring on the suggestions. I'm looking to make this deck even better. Keep in mind it's based towards my play group so if something seems like it doesn't belong, it just might!

How to Play

So essentially you're supposed to stall and control until you are able to combo or swap life totals. It's definitely geared towards group play. Not sure how it does 1 v 1 to be honest.
The combos in this deck are:

Necropotence + Solitary Confinement: Not necessarily a winning combo but it definitely stalls out the game and draws you cards. And once you get unlife, soul echo, lich, or platinum angel you can go to town and find a life swapping card or Repay in Kind.

Selenia, Dark Angel + Near-Death Experience: Usually if I'm frustrated and I want the game to end or if I have enough protection I'll swiftly dig for this combo. When I found out you could pay 2 life for Selenia's ability in response to itself over and over, her fate was sealed as my general.

Phyrexian Unlife/Lich/Soul Echo/Platinum Angel/Angel's Grace + Selenia or any of the life dropping spells + Repay in Kind/Soul Conduit: This is the main way the deck wins. I've been quite impressed at how well its been doing. Keep in mind it's edh so these combos show up in different ways so the deck never gets boring, at least to me :p.

Lich + Children of Korlis/Tainted Sigil/Resolute Archangel: Pretty self-explanatory. Drawing lots of cards. LOTS.

Rain of Filth + Skirge Familiar + draw engine (Necrologia, Necropotence, Ad Nauseam, etc.) + Exsanguinate: Another win con. This also works well with playing Lich and Repay in Kind. I find myself doing this a lot though with the other combos as well if I have some extra white mana or Gilded Lotus.

Crucible of Worlds + Strip Mine: Get rid of pesky lands or just be rude.

Some card explanations:

Platinum Angel: I know this card is very love/hate with a lot of people but I actually really love it in this deck. I find no one wants to bribe it because they know if I don't kill it immediately someone else will. Still have to test her though. She only came out in one game and the only reason why she stayed for a decent amount of time is because of ol' Eight-and-a-Half-Tails.

Vedalken Orrery: Just helps with combos and lets me catch up with the blue players.

Iona: LEAVE ME ALONE BLUE.

Leyline of Sanctity: I got tired of my creatures being so easily tempted by Bribery. All three of the aforementioned blue decks run Bribery. Plus it helps with a lot of player targeted things in group play.

Bitter Ordeal: Tack it onto a boardwipe and get rid of all those nasty Cyclonic Rifts, Krosan Grips, Counterspells, and whatever else that grinds your gears.

Erebos: I just like to draw. Like I said, gotta catch up with the blue decks in my group.

Cards I'd like to add:

Scroll Rack: To go with Land Tax.

Damnation: Not liking Decree of Pain too much. I draw well enough and it's pretty high costed.

Treasury Thrull: I feel like I may need more recursion.

Sphere of Safety: More stall and I have a pretty high enchantment count IMO.

Avatar of Hope: Mainly because I think she's cool.

Mirror Universe: I like it more than Soul Conduit tbh but it's just kinda expensive and I can't find it at my LGS. I suppose I'll have to order one online.

Cards I'd like to remove:

Tainted Sigil: The deck doesn't revolve around Lich so I find it's a dead card a lot of the time.

Minion of the Wastes: I find i drop my life total by other means, especially with my commander who costs 1 less mana and usually can never die.

Decree of Pain: Explained above.

Transcendence: Goes well with Lich but otherwise it screws me over or it's a dead card.

Other Color Combinations I thought about using:

Esper: I don't really wanna be another blue deck but i do enjoy playing blue. Plus counterspells are always nice to have in combo decks. Possible commanders: Oloro, Ageless Ascetic or Ertai, the Corrupted.

Abzan: I was thinking maybe Enchantress? It seems like no commander really fits for it though. Possible commanders: Anafenza, the Foremost or Doran maybe?

If I forgot to add anything I apologize, it's kinda early. All suggestions and help is appreciated. Hope you like the deck :).

Deck discussion for EDH: Selenia Death Drop

I'm gonna have to adjust the land base. Didn't realize how much more white mana symbols there were.
