Deck Description

Thanks everyone for front page :3

Deck idea from malakien56 (fellow mtgvault nerd)

Added in my tweeks i thought would make it a bit faster and hopefully better.

Niv-Mizzet + Curiosity = FTW

Izzet Guildmage + Lava Spike + Desperate Ritual

Gelectrode + Basilisk Collar

Added in:
Riptide for creature search
Basilisk Collar cause I has it :)
Counterspell for total counter early game
Brainstorm for top deck tidiness

Deck discussion for Niv-Mizzet, the Fire Bender!

try ophideons eye, it is another curiousity only in instant form, another idea, get a card that lets you untap a creature so you can maximize niv-mizzet

i looked at ophideons eye, but i just dont like the castin cost for it, if it was 2 mana id be all over it, but 3 seems to much just for the flash ability. and do you have any ideas for untap abilities for niv?

Yeah, Ophidian's Eye is a bad reprint of Curiosity. It's not like you're going to surprise them with the Niv combo.
As for untapping, Pemmin's Aura, Freed from the Real.

Pemmin's Aura and Freed from the Real are good for untapping a single creature but a counterpart that affects all creatures is Magewright's Stone.

You mention Desperate Ritual in the description, but it's not listed in the deck?

Haha you absolutely right, rite of flame took its spot, cause its the same thing jus costs one less, thanx for pointin that out

Rite of Flame mite be cheaper, but you need Desperate Ritual for the combo to work (it's an arcane spell)

Izzet Boilerworks is slowing you down, replace them with Steam Vents or Cascade Bluffs (I personally prefer the Bluffs).

Sensei's Divining Top is a much better card for "top deck tidiness" :p

You can also consider adding "eye of nowhere", if you manage to splice it with desperate ritual you can copy it anytimes you want with the guildmage. (i acttualy own this deck and i love seeing my opponents face when i do that... xD

me: I'll return one of your lands to your hand... splice into arcane with desperate... make a copy, and there goes another land, and another, and another... xD

opponent: -_-"

(next turn niv-mizzet+curiosity)

If you want you can check the deck i'm using here

Love the deck. Niv-Mizzet is such fun to play with. But you might want a way to be able to consistently grab him if you're running him as the selling point of the deck.

Have you thought about adding Sulfur Falls?

I was' looking through the upcoming decks section and I saw my name in the decription and "what the hell'd" haha.

I really dig the changes you made for the deck, should really speed things up and make the combos easier to maintain and pull off. Good job man :)

Feel free to re-do any of mine, this was a cool experience seeing how someone else would work with the same ideas.

just so you know, niv + curiosity = you lose (magic made change to rules that if you create an infinite combo that cannot be stopped you automatically lose, and niv is not a MAY effect and neither is curiosity, if it worked i would love to make this deck, however its an unstoppable combo

Very nice job! My friend uses this Curious Niv Mizet idea, but I never saw the guildmage and gelectrode combo. I use stunsniper with basilask collar in a different deck. Its so effective. Nice draw mechanics btw. I recently put a GU human deck together. Let me know what you think:

Crackleburr to untap Niv. Same casting as a Wee Dragonauts. Most of your creatures are red and blue anyhow so it makes the card an even better addition.

i like the build. i also like how its not just based around how broken Niv really is. nicely done.
