I have been teaching my friend how to play and decided to build her a deck for around $20 bucks. And this is what I came up with. I already owned about a third or so of the deck so it only cost her about $12 and change to finish it, which was very cool. It's versatile, low CMC, and probably a medium difficulty to play (with all of the ability interaction and lots of possible combos to learn which can be played at instant speed).Minimal sideboard is mostly just to introduce the idea of a sideboard as this is her first deck.Open to any interesting (and budget) suggestions!
Because of the low mana curve pretty much everything (with one exception) is playable turn 2-3. So it's quick. The main engine for the deck is to get a Call the Bloodline out and keep popping out the lifelinking tokens. The majority of the creatures have abilities which can interact with each other in interesting ways. Example:Use Indulgent Aristocrat to sac an Oathsworn Vampire to buff your board. Ping to gain one life with Vampire Neonate. Replay Oathsworn from graveyard. Etc. Asylum Visitor is awesome as a madness 2 drop with 3 power and allows for some card draw mid to late game. Card advantage is huge in this deck to fuel Call the Bloodline (hence the Altar's Reaps as well). and between the token generation and Oathsworn Vamps sacrificing creatures is no big problem generally. Also between Indulgent Aristocrat, Blade of the Bloodchief, and Urge to Feed the vamps that stick around get quite beefy. Lifelink keeps you healthy. The flying keeps everyone on their toes. The deathtouch is deathtouch and I love it.Main control is the kill spells. Swap in Bile Blight vs token decks and murder vs black decks or decks with lots of vigilance (which screws Murderous Compulsion). Voldaren Pariah is a trump card mini board wipe (depending on board state obviously), is flying, has madness for cheap, and can get rid of pesky indestructible and/or hexproof creatures when you flip her.
