Deck Description

HELP!

Want it to work like a creature based "burn" deck.

Hit the opponent hard with quick, sacrificing, creatures that power up other creatures like Deathbringer Thoctar and Khabal Ghoul who can defend or finish off an opponent when I have nothing to sacrifice. Repeat the process with spells like Death and Unearth. Try to get lucky with an added Quietus Spike to drop the opponents life by half, and end the game quickly.

Im just not sure how to make it flow. Do I have enough spells that return my creatures? What could I do to make this faster, more effective? Any glaring holes that I have overlooked? Please comment even if you dont like it, Im eager to learn.

Deck discussion for The "Hand of Sacrifice" Deck

Looks pretty solid. I would greatly suggest taking out the Arc Runners. They're pretty awful =/

If you have them, bias opinion or not, Bloodghasts would go wonderfully in this deck, maybe in place of the skellys, but probably for the runners.

Finally, I'd take out the Caretakers and drop the bloodthrones and pawns down to 3 each. That'll give you an open 4 to add in a playset of Dark Ritual, which will aid you greatly.

Oversold cemetery is sick in this type of decks. And i would suggest zombifie, specially with unearth. Maybe you could even add some big ass creatures. Just an idea...

Thanks DanielN!
You know, I never saw Oversold Cemetery before - I like that one a lot. I think if I were to make this mono black - it would be a must!!! Not sure what I would drop to put a pair or so in....

I dont think I will use Zombiefy just because it costs more mana to play than any of my actual creatures (not counting DB Throctar). Id probably just put "return to hand" cards in instead. But you are right, with large creatures, pfff, whats 4 mana!?!?!? Maybe I should work on a separate deck that uses some of the big bad asses black has!

I would think Crypt of Agadeem would fit nicely in this deck that would you could pretty much play whatever you wanted after you got a bunch of creatures in the grave

You know, if it didn't come in tapped - OR I had more black creatures period, I would for sure. That is actually a beautiful card and I think I will have to think on it.

That is true i didnt really realise how many red creatures you had. one other card you could add tho for as many sacing you want is Viscera Seer with reassembling skeleton you can scry all you want too

Hmmm interesting idea. I had Viscera Seer in my side board initially, but found more valuable cards to throw in there. I wonder, however, now that you bring it up, would the scry ability multiply if I sacrificed multiple creatures per turn - as I very well may be doing with this deck? If it does, it may be worthy of a try in the least.

Honestly, I never gave him much thought - kinda would have gotten in the way in my initial version. Now that I have a lot more 1 drops, he would certainly be more viable. Questions is, who goes for him?

Still no Bloodghasts? ={

Otherwise, I'm loving how this deck is coming along (so is everyone else it would seem =P)

Hahaha - yah....still no Bloodghasts. But not for any good reason either. Initially, when I started this deck, it was meant to be a deck built around cards I had or could cheaply get. Bloodghast was not in that category and since I have never used (or had him used on me for that matter, live anyways - odd huh?) I was reluctant to go shopping for him without ever seeing him in action.

Now, I am beginning to not care and I have conceded to printing proxies cause I cant wait 30+ days to get cards shipped to me, so I imagine I may as well add him. He would be beautiful. I think I may as well do that now.

Try some Bloodshot Cyclops and sneakattacks.. Just attack and chuck. :)

Huge thanks for the advice. Ive never come across those two cards. I'll pass on the sneak attacks - in THIS deck anyhow. If I have the 4 mana to drop sneak attack, I will have the mana to play anything else and most of the creatures have haste anyhow. But wow...did you ever get my brain spinning about possibilities!

That said, I love the Bloodshot Cyclops. Unfortunately, I am afraid its him or Deathbringer Throctar...its a aggressive versus tactful. I think Bloodshot Cyclops is probably the way to go - Imagine Ball Lightning hitting, being sac'd and bringing him back to do it all over again next round? Thats game. Can't pass on that can I?

Instead of the quietus spike, why not try out rakdos riteknife? an awesome little red black artifact card, that you can sac your "at end of turn, sacrifice this creature" cards, and get more of an effect after you attack with them, since they have to be saced anyways you can get blood counters on the knife. BUt quietus spike is good for that early game hit from 20 to ten, so you might have to try it out.
Great deck though, good luck!

Thank you very much!

You are right, in the long run, Rakdos Riteknife, would be better - and its cheaper...I will have to try it out. Till I do, I think it will have to replace Quietus Spike....

Thank you! I appreciate the praise. Unfortunately, I can only take minimum credit, as I have obviously taken a lot of advice from some fantastic people on this site. Even the input that didn't lead to any changes, changed the way I thought about the deck...but again, thank you!
