I feel like having almost equal red and blue mana symbols helps me just in case I am going to need an live purphoros if I dont get a master

0

still splash red for a bigger master's wave ;) some red devotional is ok even for a splash just double up or something more permanant or evasive. (red isnt so valid in said fields).

Drop Nivmagus Elemental. He has zero synergy with your deck since his ability literally does nothing with only 4 instants in your deck. Even if he is an elemental it's a weak one drop who's only purpose is one to devotion that will forever be a 1/2. You could add stormbreath dragon to finish up your curve. Maybe -4 elementals +1 nykthos +3 stormbreath dragon.

very critical angle i like it could not have said better myself revoke above statement about permanency in red dragon defy concept expensive though

I am not a big player of blue devotion, but it seems to me that this deck needs more devotion to work Master of Waves to its full potential. I don't know what options you have in terms of blue-intensive devotion, especially considering you're more than half red mana, but this seems like it needs more.

you are right I have been running a similar deck, and as I have played it at fnm's though I have had success the red element has reduced for efficiency!!!

Cool concept! I'm thinking the deck should either embrace Shrine to Nyx and use more mono blue permanents (like trident mage or knighveil specter) or use more counter magic and enchantments (like dispel and dominate) to disrupt your opponent's plan before you take your big turn. My advice; drop the nivix cards for something more direct to the purpose of the deck. You want to have master of waves create at least five tokens. When I copy this deck, I'm going to use the specters and mages. I'm also going to up two Shrines. Great deck, thanks for the inspiration. Good luck

ive been running a very similar deck in standard for a while now, with a lot of success, slowly reduced the amount of red til its a splash, am taking it to a pro tour qualifier this Saturday!!! I don't know how to put links to decks on but feel free to check mine out its called master of the elements!!!

I suggest adding Judge's Familiar instead of Nivmagus Elemental. You only have 4 spells to trigger the elemental, thus the owl will come in more useful most of the time. I know it is used in every mono blue deck around, but obviously for a good reason.

In a deck like this you should look at dissolve over dispel since it is a catch all and offers a little bit of scry action! Counterflux also has a powerful arguement in this deck. I would also look at the Izzet weirds, especially frostburn weird because he is double of both U and R! If you have a mo and you found my advice sound, would you care to check out this deck please? http://www.mtgvault.com/gothy/decks/slice-n-dice/

I would suggest dropping the Galerider Slivers in favour of Judges Familiars

Galerider gives mutavault flying

0
Posted 08 March 2014 at 15:47

but why is mutavault in there? I cannot see a single purpose of it except it being a 2/2 creature , but then it can be killed and that's just over a sixth of your land gone.

0

Aetherlingling (great name btw) is right, galerider should be cut for Familiar, although mutavault should be kept in because it offers a win sealer if the board is clear and it offers as a blocker if it needs to!

0

I would rather have a flying mutavault than a weak counterspell that reduces my devotion if I sac it
