Deck Description

I have always thought planeswalker cards were fun and awesome ever since I first started playing the game. When Atraxa came out, I grew even more excited and wanted to build her more than anything. I was finally able to pick up her precon deck and through the years updated it to this current list.

Please give any feedback or ideas that you may have!

How to Play

Most Atraxa decks get a lot of hate when you drop her in a pod so fair warning. It's a little bit of some control because you need to come up with ways to keep pressure off your planeswalkers and off yourself. Merciless Eviction, Urza's Ruinous Blast, and an Overloaded Cyclonic Rift will do the job for you and is more than enough to hold off in a traditional 4-man pod, but anything bigger and you'll run into problems. Don't forget you can also rely on Ugin and Elsepth to board wipe if absolutely needed. The token generating planeswalkers also provide some protection and Doubling Season just makes this a lot better to double up on your tokens as well as possibly getting a planeswalkers ultimate right when it enters the battlefield. The counterspells here are used just to protect your own board state and really shouldn't be played to stop an opponent from casting their commander or an annoying spell, unless it affects your board of course.

-=Notable Combos=-

So I can only think of two in the deck but if more are spotted then please point them out.

1. Teferi+Chain Veil+Any mana rock/lands= A lot of planeswalker activations

(So this one doesn't go infinite because Teferi is not the commander but you can still use it quite a bit, although you could make it go infinite if Teferi was your commander or if I used Tezzeret the Seeker but the Tezzeret I have just works better with the overall deck.) So this one is pretty basic. Activate Chain Veil and then use Teferi's minus ability to untap up to four permanents, untap Chain Veil and any lands/mana rocks. Activate the ability again. Since Teferi has a starting loyalty of 5 (6 if you plus him before activating Chain Veil) you can use the Chain Veil quite a bit because his minus ability is only a -1.

Also here is a link that I've included in another one of my decks that states you can potentially go infinite with The Chain Veil: http://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/comments/29o60x/level_3_judge_the_chain_veil_does_go_in

2. Oath of Teferi+Aminatou/Venser+Mu Yanling+Doubling Season= Infinite Turns

As convoluted as this combo is, it's a nice little ace in the hole that most won't see coming. With Oath of Teferi, Aminatou or Venser, and Doubling Season, cast Mu Yanling. Once she resolves her loyalty will go to 10. Use a plus ability so that when you use her ultimate she doesn't go to the graveyard and with Oath of Teferi out it allows you to use planeswalker abilities twice. After you have used her plus ability, use her ultimate to get an extra turn. If you have Aminatou, you can blink Mu Yanling out and when she enters the battlefield again she will count as a new planeswalker. You can repeat the following process to put two extra turns on the stack and do it each turn. If Venser is out, you can slow blink Mu Yanling and repeat the process on your extra turn.
