Deck discussion for Sanguine bond all black

Looks promising. Vampire Nighthawk would be a nice addition. Flying protection and the bonus of lifelink for Sanguine.

Looked at it... I like it and it's in a few of my others but when u hit with this deck u hit 4 alot... Bloodchief ascension requires 3 turns of doing at least 2 damage I'm looking for when I get sanguine bond out to do a lot of damage fast. Thank u for the suggestion tho please have friends look at this deck too ... I really like it and think alot of people would 2.

I like it don't no tho ,it has an expensive mana cost for a creature ... The creatures in hear are for cheap blockers and destroy creature so sanguine has time to do work.

I like it because if it comes down to it I could even sac one of my own creatures if it was for the game winning move... The thing is I don't know if it's worth taking anything else out or thrown off my mana ratio.. Maybe sb.

Nice deck. However; Naturalize, Mana Leak, Cancel, Spell Pierce, this list can go on for a while. As I said; nice deck, but needs something that will protect your Sanguine Bond.

If the other deck is blue I useully wait for the other person to spend all there mana to play it using life gain to keep me in the game until I can get it down.

Plus even if it does get like canceled.. Elexir will shuffle it back into the draw and there is a strong possibility u will flush another one out soon the deck functions pretty well to keep moving.

Blood Tribute?

I like it but at the same time I has a high mana cost and if I have already hit them with other cards then this card might bot cut that much life but I think it's worth a shot .. I'll try it out and get back to u on it.

I have tried it before but believe it or not it does not help that much because most of the spells in hears effect need many swamps to hit for major damage the only way it really benefits is when I can get sanguine bond out earlier but alot of times it does not help that much and having more copies of other cards helps more.

corrupt is fairly expensive, have you thought about taking out 2 or 3 for Loxodon Warhammer? much cheaper and you can give your other creatures lifelink. even if they are going to die at least they do some damage before they go.

0
Posted 13 February 2011 at 15:31

Lox can be expensive also I see what u are saying tho but the only creature it would help is gatekeeper cause nighthawk already has life link and wall is a defender... If I go for an attachment it might be some thing that would increase power and give shroud maybe... Idk tho

dark ritual. turn 1 vampire nighthawk, turn 3 sanguine bond or turn 1 with 2 dark rit. drop the walls, i can see why theyre good, but with the dark rituals, you wont need them

Well, you know - this isn't a bad deck. Unfortunately, it is far too slow to be effective. I honestly think that any deck that is relying solely on a combo from a 5 mana card NEEDS Dark Ritual. Drop Corrupt (too expensive) and plunk Dark Ritual in.

Also, my brother runs a mean Sanguine Bond Deck, and really, to not include Blood Tribute is nuts. Unless you are trying to be different (and power to you!) and NOT have a Sanguine/Vampire Deck, there is no reason not to have it. You said its costly and the effect is already done - yah, but it is no more expensive than your Corrupt (that stupid card really needs to go!) and it is INFINITELY better! Its an automatic game ender right there!

If you are going for the Sanguine/Vamp deck type, then I would keep the gatekeeper, but drop the Go for the throat cards (sideboard if needed!) - but they are both removal cards and gatekeeper is just a more expensive version of doomblade and it does not do anything to add to your main strategy. Either way, drop one or both of those sets and throw in either Feast of Blood as your removal (if you go with the Vamp strategy - really much better!) or a simple lifelink card like Child of Night.

Plunge into Darkness is also an effective game ender if you have a lot of creatures out there and not getting any of those other, more expensive, spells.

Oh, and you really ought to get some tutor cards in there....helps you get that Sanguine Bond out asap.

Lastly, and it is purely a personal preference. Walls suck. Id rather have a card that is going to help me kick my opponents ass (vampire bite, some cheap equipment, whatever!) than a speed bump. Heck, if you have life link on all your creatures, you will be gaining enough life that will allow you to absorb more damage than some lame ass wall could ever block. Also, if you shuffle properly, you really do not need 24 swamps - at least drop two.

Hope that helps. Either way its your deck and you have to play it, but I hope these suggestions will make you more dangerous.

P.S. In response to your question about the Divinity of Pride, it is a great card, but it will likely just slow you down even more...

I agree with u on the wall thing ... I just really wanted a one drop creature that would be able to hold up for a few turns ... With so much creature removal most of the time I only have to block the creature for one turn before it gets stuck down by one of my creature removals... I'm going to try the dark rituals again not sure what I'm going to sub for yet... But I'm def adding in blood tribute .. Not quite sure how to yet tho prob split it with taking out -2 corrupt + 2 blood tribute then I might put in some demonic tutor but I'm not quite sure yet .. If u want u could give suggestions on what to drop and pick up..

If this deck were mine, and I had to play it, Id likely make the following swaps:

-4 swamps : +4 Dark Ritual (A MUST!)

-4 stupid walls : +4 Vampire Lacerator (or Guul Draz Vampire/Guul Draz Assassin as they give you some nice options - if you insist on 1 drops, Kalastria Highborn [BEAUTIFUL COMBO with Plunge into Darkness] would not be a bad option here either - or Blade of the Bloodchief - your call)

-4 Corrupt : +2 Blood Tribute, +2 Child of Night

-2 Gatekeeper of Malakir : +1 Child of Night (Another), +1 Dash Hopes (DedWards is right! protects the Sanguine Bond and just plain handy!)

-4 Go for the Throat : + 4 Vampiric Tutor (or demonic tutor as it is easier to get a hold of economically)

-4 Exsanguinate (side board for multi player games) : +2 Plunge into Darkness, +2 Dash Hopes

Lastly, I agree with Voltronek. If you want to look at some other ways of black mana ramping (excessively) check out one of my decks for ideas:
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=127428
I am not super happy with it - doesn't balance right, but it has TONS of mana and you can rip off some ideas.

Ok, time for my 2 cents worth-
Korlash, Hier to Blackblade would be nice. His grandeur helps with mana and he's a big creature. Also enchanting him with Vampiric Link will allow you to swing and gain life equal to the number of swamps you control (which he helped get).
Dash Hopes can help protect the bond.
Unmake is an awesome "kill" spell with no limitation of 'nonblack' or 'nonartifact' :p

A couple things from my own sanguine bond deck that you can toss in yours without making too much changes.

Zuran Orb - sac useless land for some life gain love
Cabal Coffers - helps with the mana

With Zuran orb can I sac as many as I want?

0
Posted 14 February 2011 at 12:10

You can sac all your lands if you want. I usually keep it in my hand and wait to use it as a finisher... example... Drain Life for 5... opp loses 10 life total from sanguine bond... drop the orb, sac 5 lands... you gain 10... he loses 10 = win.

Well I should start by saying I really enjoy the deck, even more so because it is the first mono black Sanguine Bond deck I've come across.

My first suggestion was going to be to add Dark Rituals like Asmitty52593 and a few others suggested, your right in that you need lots of swamps for your best abilities (especially if you include a few Zoran Orbs which I think would make a creative and effective end-game move) but you really also need to get it out faster than turn five to make the deck competitve.

My other suggestion is to maybe add a few Titan Forges, you can play them early and use your excess of swamps to create charge counters and pump out 9/9 creatures. I know people are gonna argue with that but it is the direction I would go in, and again great job with the deck I look forward to seeing to final product
