Interesting setup. No archaeomancer though? You Should check out my Izzet deck, and tell me what you think. I think Izzet may be the new Control archetype since it thrives on counter burning your opponent.

I'm not a huge fan of Archaeomancer. It's a 1/2 with a cmc of 4, and no persistent effect on the field. I prefer my creatures to actually do something while they're out. I can see the use for it, but I find it a bit too costly for the pay off. Hence the focus on burning things down and short term buffs for my creatures, although I do think Archaeomancer is solid if you're running any high cost high effect sorceries/instants. Sadly all of mine are low cost. :P

Yeah I love Archaeomancer mid game just to recycle my really nasty dirt from my graveyard. Especially in Mill Decks. Ibhave an Izzet Mill deck I'm working on atm, and it really drives home when your manacist doesn't matter, you just need the guarantee of that spell that will an earlier big play, and possibly win the game. But his cost is a tad high. I can see why you might pass it by. At least try Izzet Guildmage. The ability to copy your spells is about as worthwhile as recycling them. And Guildmage is cheaper turn-for-turn and has a persistent effect like you said.

Guildmage honestly isn't a bad suggestion at all. It helps me make my cards go further. Problem is I'm not sure where I'd fit him in. Also do you have any suggestions on drawing cards? I've got curiosity, but I'm not familiar with blue enough for the good cards to help you do that.

I would say that Izzet Guildmage would serve you better than Blistercoil Weird. Also Electrickery and Artful dodge arent really doing much, Izzet really rely on Spells for damage or passive creature abilites i.e. Guttersnipe. Yoi shouldnt really be attacking, more using Counter-and-Burn tactics. As far as card draw, Think Twice is a good one and it has Flashback, or Thought Scour also has a Mill 2/Draw 1 flavor. Divination is a Draw 3 but is a tad expensive (4 drop I think). For cheap drawing, and for Guildmage to be able to copy it, probably Thought Scour and Think Twice are your money banks. Also if you don't like Archaeomancer, you may want to try Mystic Recovery since its the same CMC and same effect, but its not a creature. Also it has Flashback so it can be used again later which does serve its own niche within Izzet decks. And i believe that Guildmage can copy a spell cast for Flashback since you're still casting the original Spell, not a copy. Anyway, that's my 2 bits.
