Deck Description

Illusion Tribal deck using 2.0 cards.

The illusion tribal deck is one that relies on getting powerful, low cost, creatures out on the field and buffing them and protecting them with Lord of the Unreal. I have built a deck that, i believe, accomplishes this goal quite nicely. I'll explain the cards and my reasons for using them below.

Krovikan Mist:
Perhaps one of the best illusions in the game. This guy hits hard and quick in this deck. at only 2CMC he will come out quick and start taking shots at your opponent early on. once the Lord comes out it becomes difficult for your opponent to keep up with the damage. He is almost always accompanied by a phantom bear and a phantasmal image taking shape of Lord of the Unreal. your opponent just might scoop once it happens

Phantom Warrior:
A very solid illusion. 3cmc for a 2/2 unblockable is exceptional enough. Once Lord of the Unreal hits the field though he is a 3/3 unblockable, hexproof. Awesome.

Phantasmal Bear:
A staple for any illusion deck. 1 cmc for 2/2 that will be buffed by Lord of the Unreal often the next turn makes for a great early game.

Phantasmal Dragon:
Most people would argue that Aether Figment would have been a better choice. They are not wrong by any means. However I see dragon and aether figment a little differently than others I guess. turn 2 i want to drop Lord of the Unreal or Krovikan Mist or save mana for a counter. 2 mana for a 1/1 unblockable is good but if i wait two more turns i can get a 5/5 flier out. Flying in my case is the same as unblockable because I can either counter their fliers or just let their ground dwellers do what they would normally. so in a way i'm getting a better deal with the dragon than i would with aether figment.

Phantasmal Image:
Freaking awesome. this card is the best illusion in my opinion because of just how freaking versatile it is. let me lay down the possibilities that you will often see with this card.
- Copy your Lord of the Unreal. now you have one that cant be killed. Nice!
- Copy one of your best illusions like Phantasmal Dragon or phantom warrior. swing for that extra damage
- Copy your opponents fatty only to to become bigger than it since you have a Lord or 2 out. Right on!
- Copy your oppenents Legendary creature. Phantom Image is a removal spell for that Geist of Saint Traft or Thrun the Last Troll. EPIC!!

The possibilities don't end there I assure you.

Tamiyo, the Moon Sage:
Illusions is a tribal deck that is very aggressive and you want to be wrapping up the game in a hurry. If you don't manage to get set up quick then you are in some trouble. I am the kind of guy who wants corners covered and weaknesses diminished as much as possible. i just can't quit because i didn't get my turn 4 win. (i have never quit a game in my life. That's fucking rude). So if i find myself getting into a late game with an "okay" setup on the field, Tamiyo will come to my rescue. Her +1 freezes a foe for a turn which could allow that last couple of damage to get through(assuming im out of vapor snag). And her ultimate lets me counter away and ponder away AND vapor snag away so that i get the ideal field for a lethal swing. I have been playing her in my illusion deck for some time now and i have had some really close calls that were won and couldn't have been won without her. She works for my play style and has great synergy with illusions so i run 2 copies.

Gitaxian Probe:
Great first turn card to cast. figure out what your opponent has and prepare your counters accordingly. You might even draw into that phantom bear or gut shot.

Vapor Snag:
Clear the ground or air for the illusions that dont have unblockable or just bounce that annoying creature that is ruining your setup... Erhem... zombies. the 1 damage ping is an excellent bonus.

Mana Leak:
You know what these are for

Ponder:
You might also know what these are for

As for the side board. Gut shot and Deprive are awesome. I didn't know what else to add to it though.

Thats it! Thanks for viewing.
P.S. sorry it was such a long read :(

Thanks!
I took a gander at your deck and i really like it. I do have a few questions though.
- why 2 cackling counter part? it targets so the only thing you can get is lord or cryptoplasm.
- 4 cryptoplasm? wow and cool! i havn't seen that run a lot. how does it fair?

i also have a contention with unsummon. I like the idea of saving your own guys but you could only save lord or cryptoplasm. it might be worth taking a life if you only have those to save for the versatility of vapor on your opponent as well. that's my take at least.

anyway really nice deck. I hope you go far cuz illusions are freakin awesome!
