Deck Description

Beatdown deck that I am planning on running in the new Modern Format. Heavy removal clears away blockers and opponent's threats, while Battle Cry and Double Strike combine for massive damage. Sunforger is the equipment of choice, having a very high sheer damage output and being a card advantage machine.

Any suggestions for this deck? Does it need a better defense against Zoo or any other of the decks that will be strong in Modern? Please give advice.

Hi Archiphres,

I've really not gotten into building Modern decks yet. It is so much easier to remember all the cards that are banned in Legacy format to figuring out if a card is legal in Modern format.

I never build decks by looking at the actual cards and that is the way I understand you can tell if a card is Modern legal the edge style is different. And who can remember if the card was printed before or after 8th edition?

Still looking at your deck some cards you might consider adding are
1. Æther Vial This card is found in many weenie decks as a means around heavy permission decks.
2. In a Goblin deck Goblin Matron and Goblin Chieftain tend to be petty strong cards.

This deck wasn't intended to be goblins- it was intended to be more of a fast midrange deck. Matron isn't legal in Modern- Duel Deck reprintings of cards don't count, and the actual printing of the card was before 8th edition. Thanks for your input, though. Aether Vial could be a consideration in a control-heavy meta. But with Blue losing three of its best cards in the recent ban, I don't know how strong control decks are going to be.
