This deck utilises the infinite untapping ability of Myr creatures to allow Heavy Arbalest to destroy any and all players in a game. This deck was made specifically because of how underrated the Heavy Arbalest is as a card, so I wanted to dispel the naysayers and make a deck around it. The result is something quite spectacular - a deck which is both fun AND cheap, and has attracted some attention from fellow players. Thanks to all the support and suggestions people have given so far, I didn't really expect this deck to get more than 0 likes (I mostly put it here so that I didn't forget the idea!), but it seems people gravitate towards the cuddly adorable little Myr. <3 I'm going to chronicle the development of the deck within this description, rather like a set of patch notes, so I apologise in advance for its massiveness. :D Update (03/05/11): -Replaced a lot of mana producing Myr with some utility Myr and Forgemasters for making the Arbalest itself easier to find. In theory this should make the deck faster overall. -Started looking into the different lands I could implement to increase deck speed. -Added Myr Turbine to help search for the Galvanizers. (Thanks to ReiCordine for the suggestion!) Update (04/05/11): -Replaced Cancels with more Mana Leaks, and Into the Roils with more Preordains. Cheaper counterspells and draw controllers are always good for getting more Myr out. -Removed 4 Myr Servitors and 2 Unsummons, replaced with 2 Myr Turbines, 1 Myr Reservoir and 3 Myr Superions. (Myr Superion, 5/6, CMC: 2 which must be paid from creatures) This effectively adds a second win condition to the deck - overrun with Myr incase Heavy Arbalest or Myr Galvanizer gets extracted. (Thanks to Boday1 for both these suggestions!) Update (05/05/11): -Replaced 2 Mana Leaks with 2 Stoic Rebuttals as suggested by MagicLango (again!) - so many artifacts will be in play that a CMC 2 hard counterspell will be invaluable. -Removed 1 Myr Turbine, added 1 Palladium Myr. -Removed all Kuldotha Forgemasters, replaced with Tezzeret the Seeker's. The -X search ability is absolutely brilliant since it can search for any component of the combo, and the +1 Untap 2 Artifacts is handy for the Reservoirs, Turbines, Silvers, and Palladiums and for countering tap control. Update (15/05/11): -Removed 3 Myr Sires and 1 Myr Reservoir. -Added 1 Myr Turbine and 1 Myr Superion. -Added 2 Prototype Portals for mass producing anything I need to during a game, probably Galvanizers or Superions (since Superions' CMC is 2, give me some cheap 5/6's please.)

Myrs have some of the most potent combo's of any creature type. How about good ol' Myr Retriever? Classic! I'd play with this deck just to see everyone's face when you take them all out tap by tap lol

So many Myr, so little deck space! <3
palladium myr also means that you don't need 2 mana myr to go off- if you feel like sticking some of those in.
Ah, because the mana isn't lost until the end of the phase! This is where I slip up in Magic - forgetting the little things that could make a big difference in the deck itself ^.^"
Heavy Arbalest! love it! thats gotta be annoying to play against at FNM! $400+ decks getting run through by a $15(max) deck!
And with today's currency exchange rates - thats under £10 here! So, for the equivalent of a few boosters, one can build a deck with an infinite damage combo built in. :D
I suggest a Myr Turbine, will allow you to create tokens to chump block, search out the galvanizer/palladium, and having 5 myr on the field isn't much of a problem if you're using Myr Sires
Good idea! Thanks for the suggestion :D

I like it! Only thing I would change if you're trying to maintain the extremely low price while making ti considerably better would be to go up to four Preordain, and four Mana Leak. Also, to make it standard drop Myr Servitor for more Galvanizers, and come New Phyrexia, one more Myr Resivour and a couple Myr Superion and you'll be golden!
I wish I could put in more Galvanizers D: What would you suggest dropping for the extra Mana Leaks and Preordains though? I like Turn Aside for its extremely cheap mana cost, and Cancel for its ability to hard-counter everything, but maybe Into the Roil and Unsummon should be the ones to go? Myr Servitors I like for their survivability, but I suppose if I swapped those out for extra Reservoirs and Turbines, that shouldn't be a problem with the amount of resurrection and token production they get replaced with. Myr Superion I hadn't considered, but I can see why they're so darn useful now. One Palladium Myr and bam, have a 5/6 on Turn 4. I'll see if I can slot a few in anywhere. Thanks for the suggestions!
you are playing so many artifacts that i feel like you should dump in a couple of stoic rebuttals for some more countermagic- I would drop 2 myr turbines- you don't need a playset, especially with forgemasters too. Either that or maybe even take out the forgemasters- they aren't great in this strategy- only thing they find that turbines cant is an arbalest, resevoir or another turbine. I'd only keep the forgemasters if you also put in a blightsteel or something for an alternate kill- that'll also work with ur mana combo to accelerate out with myr.
Good idea about the Stoic Rebuttals, will slot a few of those in in place of some Mana Leaks. :D If I dropped 2 Turbines and/or 2 Forgemasters though, I can't help but feel I'd need more library searching for the Arbalests and Galvanizers. The only replacement I can immediately think of is Tezzeret the Seeker, at the cost of doubling the deck price and making it non-standard (although to be honest, I'm not really fussed about either of those). Same CMC, but can search for either card depending on the situation, which is handy. And he's mono-blue. <3 What I may do is just drop the one turbine, replace it with another Palladium Myr, and then replace both Forgemasters with Tezzerets. Thoughts
if you are worried about draw consistancy, you probably want to put in the combo builder's new best friend, 4x gitaxian probe. That thing is awesome.
I'm not sure where Gitaxian Probes would fit in to this deck to be honest, but thanks for the suggestion :D
Decided to build my own version, g/b instead of straight up b- here it is, take a look: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=181381
I run this with propagators as well since you can find them with the turbine and bring him back with the reservoir if need be. 5 mana produced by myr is a pretty hefty kick off it's a very resilient combo. myr welders and unstable portals also make occasional apperances in my deackin case something happens to your arbalests. Also maybe a battle sphere or two, it brings enough myr to the field to search your deck with turbine and can turn the propagator infini tokens into direct damage in case your opponent can negate battle damage or something. The downside being this probably close to doubles the price of the deck.
