Deck discussion for Reanimate

None of these things can cast Emrakul, he doesn't go into graveyards well.

...is not in the deck, and would slow down the overall strategy. He'd be better off just taking emrakul out and casting other monstrous things.

Could be a backup strategy against graveyard hate, though I agree it would slow down the deck a little.

Goryo's vengeance can Reanimate emrakul, his ability says "when he goes to the graveyard" meaning for a split second he actually is in the graveyard which enables you to use an instant to reanimate him. A sorcery will not reanimate emrakul. You're confusing him with a lot of other creatures that shuffle back into your library upon death. They use the word instead, not when. It's all in the wording

Seriously? 'when' not 'if'? Good call on that one, ApFrank.

whoooahh did not see that. You're absolutely right it's a triggered ability and you can respond to it. Of course, that means he's useless with anything other than vengeance, but it's probably consistent enough to warrant inclusion. Good call man!

Emrakul reads: When Emrakul is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.
Blightsteel colossus reads: If Blightsteel Colossus would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal Blightsteel Colossus and shuffle it into its owner's library instead.

See the difference in wording? Emrakul's wording actually states that it does in fact hit the graveyard by using "when" where as Blightsteel's wording doesn't let it hit the graveyard before the shuffle effect due to the words "If" and "instead"

So yes i'm dead serious about using an instant to reanimate Emrakul.
