Deck Description

Gruul Mana ramp deck that drops creatures fast and makes them even larger. Mid game brings them all out, erasing the idea of any late game for the opponent. Leave suggestions!

How to Play

This deck plays off of a couple of cards in different ways against many different decks. The main win condition of this deck involves this process, early game drop big creatures like Polukarnos and Stormbreath with the help of mana ramp from Mystic, Caryatid, Voyaging, Nykthos, and Xenagos. Mid game drop creatures one after another and overwhelm the opponent with mana and monstrosity. Late game, try to never get to late game. The hope of the deck it to basically drop Polukarnos or Stormbreath turn 2 from burning-tree x3 after a turn one mystic. Turn 1 = forest to mystic. Turn 2 = burning tree, burning tree, burning tree, nykthos, Stormbreath/Polukarnos. Mid game try and drop Gods along with the monsters from earlier and then also use Garruk for card draw and Xenagos for mana and even some crazy monster drop.

Deck discussion for Monsters and Dragons

Needs more Primordial Hydra.

Also, if you're running Green/Red, might I suggest looking at Protean Hydra and Lightning Bolt combo'd together ? It can create a scary monster fast.

Absolutely would be scary. Im trying to stay inside of Standard for FNM and other things like that. Im gonna try and get some lightning bolts for a fast and quick removable strategy.

Okay I have a pretty good hydra standard deck and it's green red black, use zhur-taa ancient he doubles tapped mana, for black I use corpse jack menace to double their size and I'd drop all the non mana producers and fill in with other stuff. One option is jarad golgari lich lord because you can attack and then sacrifice your giant hydras to directly kill their life

There's a problem with this tho: "Whenever a player taps a land for mana" ... That gives your opponent a huge advantage. Sure you get to drop some scary hydras, but they can also easily counter/ remove them with the mana boost from Zhur-Taa Ancient.

Also nylea gives them trample and that could deal the deal, alpha authority gives it hexproof and only able to be blocked by one creature so that'd solve your removal

Merciless Eviction. Hexproof only protects against being the target of a spell or ability.

Tonight, I went to SNM and did pretty well. I went 5-5 with the deck. That is not that bad for my first time really getting to test out the deck against others. The decks that gave me the most trouble were a Mill deck and a really fast Mono Red deck. I feel like Legion Loyalist and Burning-Tree would be great additions to my deck. Otherwise just changing some cards around and changing the amount of cards around will help. Otherwise ill update this and you guys can give me some ideas for changes! Thanks!
