Hedron Crabs can be both a powerful mill engine, or a cheep block if really needed.
Mill buffs aberration and wight.
bluster squall can tap defensively for stall to mill, or tap offensively for an open field to swing at.
Mind crank turns mill to damage

Deck discussion for Dimir Grinding

Do you think leyline of singularity could be usefull in this?

Id use that more for a control deck, part of the hopes of this is to be stacking enchantments and having multiple of the same critters like the Hedron crabs or the specters out at once

I noticed that your deck isn't legal in standard, so it has to be either modern or legacy that you are aiming for.

In modern leyline of singularity locks down a hell of a lot of decks. (I'm compiling a list)
It's evil against tokendecks, elfcombo, splintertwin, makes second sunrise really bad in eggs, and stop dredgelike decks from getting the creatures you mill into play. Plus it generally stalls beatdown.

And since you don't play 4 of everything it actually fits your deck.

If you are more into legacy I can tell you what it can work against there too :)

I'll argument for why the leyline can fit into a creatureheavy deck:

First of all, the leyline can be built around, cutting some critters and including others, this will also make a deck less vulnerable against surgical/extirpate.

Second, in any matchup with creatures, the leyline will allow both players to have only one of each creature, and if your creatures are the biggest, the leyline will work to your advantage.

Third, instead of putting it in play at the beginning of the game, keep it on the hand, play one of each creatures only, then at the hight of the game play it, making sure your opponent suffers for having multiple creatures in play.

Wickeddarkman, your logic is flawed.

First, Remodeling your entire deck just to include one card seems stupid. You've commented on Hedron Crab on my mill deck. What is better, a Hedron Crab milling your opponent 3 cards on turn 2 or 2 Hedron Crabs milling your opponent 6 cards on turn 2? And aren't two Fog Banks better for blocking a large group of creatures than one?

Second, Mill decks aren't usually focused on huge creatures. Yes, Consuming Aberration and Wight of Precinct Six are likely going to be stronger than most of your opponent's creatures, but what about Duskmantle Guildmage, Balustrade Spy, Hedron Crab, Invisible Stalker, Nightveil Specter, and Mindeye Drake? They are not as strong as most of your opponent's creatures.

The third suggestion is one that could work, but it just seems too restrictive. If I get 2 Hedron Crabs in my opening hand, I will want to play those two Hedron Crabs. I won't want a board wipe card in my hand making me only able to play 1 of them.

Good deck.

In the case that your opponent seems to play the bigger creatures you will propably lose wether the leyline is part of the deck or not, but you may opt to keep it in hand as a sweep and then pray that your opponent plays doubless!

Just think of the leyline as a card that can be played in several ways. You will almost always be able to adjust your strategies with it!

And if everything seems wrong about it, sideboard it or even loose it :)

Leyline does have several uses, but I'd say that it has to be built around instead of it just being stuck into a creature-heavy deck.

SOULOFMIRRODIN:
I'll take that as a challenge ;D So let's find a creatureheavy deck with blue in it, that you think is not good to play the leyline in!
Hell, I'll even put it in a goblindeck if I get to design it :) Then I'll play it for a while and comment on how the leyline performs.

After all there's a reason why I claim it stalls beatdown a little, which is that, the more creatures there are in a deck, the more you can actually play without being affected by the leyline. So a deck with say 16 lands, 4 leylines and 10X4 cheap goblincards will have an easier time to play goblins than a deck with 4 tarmogoyf 4 delver of secrets and 4 nimble mongoose would have it.

Leyline punishes the decks with the least creatures in it the most. So, it's natural to me that a deck with many creatures will have use of the leyline :)
