Until this moment most of my decks have been strongly themed decks. Now I wanted to make a deck that's just... basically effective. I really love the Abzan colours for the control cards available there. So here is my first real shot at a (budget) Abzan Midrange. Some inspiration- https://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/modern-archives/modern-archives-proven/511600-abzan-midrange-junk-bgw-souls-bg-rock- https://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/budget-modern/589204-100-junk-abzan-bgw-midrange-guide- http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/modern-abzan-junk-card-library-primer-below/
You start with a little hand-hate by discarding your opponents most essential cards or biggest threats using Inquisition of Kozilek (or Duress). From there you try to seek the right balance between efficient threats and available answers. It seems pretty straightforward put like this, but the fun is in the game when you have to make the right decisions every time on when to use which of your answers and how to make the most efficient use of you threats to keep keep enough pressure on your opponent. You are not so much playing this deck as you are playing your opponent. That is what makes this deck a lot of fun to me.
