1. Know when to dredge. When you are mana starved, only dredge if you have a Loam, or if you are 100% sure you can hit a loam.2. Know probability. I will draw an example from my IQ Quarterlies. My opponent had a Grafdiggers Cage on the field, and I had everything I needed to win, as long as I could get rid of the cage. There were ten cards left in my deck. I knew that 2 of them where Ancient Grudge. I knew that I had a 1/5 chance to draw a Grudge, so I risked it and what do you know. A grudge.3. The best way to beat hate is to outplay it. No amount of fancy siding will beat hate more effectively than using your brain. No one will expect you to Loam, and then start milling them with your Crab entourage.4. People are stupid. If there is an imminent threat, people will usually leave things that don’t directly bother them to live. Plenty of times people have killed a troll I played, patting themselves on the back for being opportunistic because I didn’t have the resources to regenerate it, leaving a Magus on the field to do her dirty work. They will also tend to do incorrect things to spare themselves possible card disadvantage. If they have a path, and need to path either Magus or Crab, people will usually go for crab because if they path magus, I get mill from crab.5. Never wait. If you see an opportunity to get some vines out, don’t wait to hit all of them. Just go out there and cause some damage. Don’t overextend though, if you do hit your other vines and you played all of your gravecrawlers last turn you missed out on a massive strike.6. This decks real strongpoint is the player itself. Unlike Jund or even Storm which practically play themselves, it takes the player to make the deck powerful7. Mindgames are your friend. Make subtle moves, against higher level opponents a twitch of the lip could make them unsure or concrete them into performing an action that could benefit you.
