Seething song got banned and now i cant play storm, so iv been looking for another deck to play. Eggs is a combo deck that has shown up in legacy and modern, in various incarnations. this is a version of modern eggs. its just as degenerate as storm was, and capable of fairly consistent t3-4 wins.--they banned second sunrise . . .for anyone trying to still play this deck in modern..dont. - it's not worth it. open the vaults is terrible, and the reclaim/noxious revival plan without a 3 mana engine sucks.
eggs is a pretty complex deck to pilot. basically what your trying to do is play some eggs(chromatic sphere/star, conjurer's bauble, elsewhere flask) in the first couple of turns. and if you can, get a lotus bloom online.then when your ready to go off, tap your lands for mana, then ghost quarter them off for more lands, and tap those. then cycle all that mana through your eggs and sac off all your artifacts. after everything is in the graveyard play second sunrise or faith's reward and do it all again. slowly youll start to net extra mana and draw through your entire deck.you can use wargate, or you can play reshape for 0 to grab a lotus bloom. you can consistently generate large amounts of mana by cycling lotus blooms, fetchlands, and ghostquarters everytime you second sunrise/faith's reward use conjurer's bauble to put second sunrises, or anything else you need back into your library.you win by looping pyrite spellbomb, with conjurer's bauble and second sunrise/faith's reward

I feel like I'm missing something here? You are telling me that your only wincon is: 1xPyrite Spellbomb??

yeah. its kind of hard to explain, but after you have drawn your entire library( which happens by looping your eggs with second sunrise/ faith's reward) you can sac off 2 lotus blooms. play and sac a pyrite spellbomb. sac your conjurers bauble to put second sunrise/ faiths reward back into your hand( because you have nothing in your library it goes to the top of the library then into your hand. you then play second sunrise/ faiths reward and get back 2 lotus bloom, pyrite spellbomb, and conjurers bauble. do that 9 more times and win. ^_^
Late response I know, (forgot my password):I get the trick/combo and have seen it posted around the bottom end of top 16 GP and tour finishers but almost every one of them carry a secondary wincon, or at the very least a tempo grabber. Yours has nothing left after a simple Jund hand cherry pick.Cool when it works but seriously vulnerable...?
this deck was a tier deck, and was so good it got second sunrise banned, so im not sure what you mean by "bottom end"anyway, the deck doesn't fear discard. you use conjurer's bauble to put anything important that got discarded back into your library.surgical extraction, and other grave hate is a much bigger problem. But can all be played around.leyline of sanctity comes in for jund and other heavy discard matches.the deck is by no means vulnerable, and pulls extremely consistent t3 wins.unfortunately, you cant play it anymore. so none of this matters
This is the weirdest deck. and you're saying this works?
a player named Stanislav Cifka went 14-0 at pro tour rtr with a very similar list
I... Can't comment. This is so weird but seems legit. I love. Btw. Just started following you lol. Constructive criticism might help me haha. And would this deck work better if it had more damage dealers?
you could run a grapeshot in the main alongside pyrite spellbomb if you wanted to speed up the kill, or were worried about something like extirpate or surgical extraction. the deck plays off loops though, so more than one damage dealer isnt needed. pyrite spellbomb can act as a psuedo egg, and a win con, so it seems kinda perfect.
Pyrte is almost a must for the wincon alone and the double duty as a pseudo egg makes it a lock in my humble opinion...
I just looked up what this second breakfast thing is and that is such a cool combo, takes alot of thought tho to do the whole process, especially if it get interrupted at all by counters or something. but unless you exile one of the key cards, there really isn't anything that can permanently stop the combo. Though it seems kind of hard to personalize the deck because 90 to 95 percent of the deck has to have specific cards or the combo won't work or work consistently.
yeah exactly. there's not much youd really want to change. the deck has gone through a couple different versions. before faiths reward was printed, people ran 4 noxious revival 1 reclaim. once faiths reward was printed though the deck became much more playable. now theres basicly 2 versions running around. KCI and non-KCI . KCI reffers to Klark-Clan Ironworks. Instead of cantrips it runs ichor wellsprings, KCI, and a few other artifact. KCI seems super cluttered to me and less consistent. non-KCI eggs really took off after Cifka rocked Pro Tour RTR with it. he played a more cantrip centric eggs. and added silence to play around counterspells.the only changes ive made to cifkas list is switching a gitaxian probe to noxious revival, and changing sleight of hand to wargate.wargate single handily pushes the deck over the top. and makes it almost impossible to fizzle.the only changes, or personalization you could really make at this point is the win condition. but your going to want an alt win in the side anyway.silence is probably the only other flex slot. i could see an argument being made to sideboard them. running 3 silence main reminds me of the legacy TES decks though and just feels sexy. >:D also, its a pretty great feeling to silence your opponent and then play solo for a half hour.. -_-'
I like seeing decks you don;t normally see though and this is one of them so like that, it's just too bad you can't personalize more. kudos for cifka though on rocking this deck. It probably threw his opponents off guard playing a deck like this. I like that you added wargate in this deck, that's a neat little add you made, silence is just a sexy card, so i can understand you being partial to running 3 in the deck. You know what my favorite part to this deck is, the fact that it's modern legal and is good enough to be ran in legacy and modern and win. I plan on putting together a modern deck that i could take to a tourny sometime, might take a little bit though cause I'm not about to spend 100 + dollars on a deck that I might not even get a chance to take to a tourny, I'll probably try to trade for the majority of what I want and if I catch wind of a tourny around me, MAYBE i'll fork the money out to complete one haha.... Decks like this make me really think about how competitive i need to make the deck or just having a really really good sideboard at least.... =p
At first i was a bit confused, but correct me if im wrong, basically you just pyrite spellbomb the shit out of the opponent, and quickly.
correct. you pyrite spellbomb them 10 times. but incredibly slowly actually haha. you cant start the spellbomb loop untill you have drawn your entire library. so to go through a bunch of second sunrise/faithreward loops to draw the entire library and then 10 spellbomb loops takes awhile. just goldfishing the deck can take 20 minutes. you could run a grapeshot or library maniac if you wanted to be a lil faster. this all happens t3-4 usually though. so it is a "fast" deck in that sense.
Haha, gotta love your decks man. But shouldn't the decks have more spellbombs? And why not use older eggs as well?
i cant use the older eggs because they're not modern legal : / and more than one spellbomb is unnecessary, as you can just loop 1 bomb 10 times for the win. even if it gets discarded you can put it back into your library with conjurers bauble and snag it up again.
Nice deck like the effects of the eggs, thinking of running one, another thing about Stanislav Cifka he put into place the downfalls of pain lands by mostly only doing eighteen damage due to the Second Sunrises and Faith's Rewards, all players were playing pain lands doing two damage to themselves opening up an eighteen damage hit with spellbomb also being able to use it for drawing. I see that you are also playing Wargate for searching for Lotus Blooms have you thought about adding in one of two Manamorphose for added mana combination plus a nice little draw engine for your Wargate if needed?
