Deck Description

Basically the swiss army knife of combo. It can win from various angles, and through varying amounts of hate. It may not be the easiest deck to pilot, but its incredibly powerful when wielded to its full potential.

Deck discussion for Legacy Doomsday Tendrils

Virtue's Ruin is my preference for when I see more Maverick than I'm comfortable with, wishing it up might not be as easy as dropping a turn one Dread of Night, but with the access DDFT has it's still rather easy. Less constraint on the board.

Also, no Chant effects? Usually I see at least six in the deck, or they generally grab Cabal Rituals. Any insight I can have on your choice?

Oh, and putting a wish in the sideboard, so you can wish for a wish, is awesome.

Yeah it seems like virtue's ruin or infest are the go to wishable answers for hatebear decks. i may have to test it out a bit. opening up 2 slots in the board would be great. ive been trying to squeeze time spiral in there, but without chant effect, im not sure i want to be playing that card anyway( although it does open up some pass the turn piles against non blue decks)

as for the reasoning behind no chant effects. well i have been reading the storm board ddft forums for a whiiile, and i saw a recent list that was playing the full discard suite with the full set of probe, and he commented that all the information you get from seeing your opponents hand so frequently makes setting up your combo a alot easier. - The last ddft list i was testing looked alot more like UBW ANT with doomsday, IGG, and chant effects, but i figured if im splashing red, i might as well try out the discard build.

when you play ideas unbound, its better to play lotus petals over cabal ritual, because its (u)(u) casting cost can be awkward. also, with no IGG, cabal ritual becomes alot less necessary. Im a big fan of rain of filth, a one mana cabal ritual seems pretty great to me, so i figured a 3-1 split with petal would be fine.

i think if i set my deck up with some number of infernal tutor over ponder, i could try the wish in the board, but i really think im into the 16 cantrip list right now( if you count SDT) i love being able to rip through my deck finding pieces, or protection, or being able to eat a few discard spells, or counterspells, and still be able to sculpt a winning hand.

you were absolutely right about BW in doomsday though. its a little bit outrageous.. im a sucker for chant effects and IGG loops, but this deck is feeling pretty awesome right now. if only i could pilot this thing better!!

Infest is good against a wider variety of decks, and deals with the bulk of hatebears, I go with Ruin because it's more of a selective middle-finger. And I honestly wouldn't risk Time Spiral without the chants. Been there, done that, ruined my record with DDFT.

Yeah, full discard really is a better option right now, I have to agree. Chants are nice, but not needing to awkwardly summon up {W} is nicer.

I hear you, I still like my backup two mana into Doomsday though, but then again that's probably because I run the full compliment of Infernals as well as three Wishes.

I kind of feel like that with twelve cantrips you're playing something more akin to ANT than the traditional DDFT, but it works and gets it done quite well too. I prefer the Papier-mâché nuke route than the Glass Cannon, the choice between more enablers vs cantrips is at this point personal choice in DDFT I think.

I told you, and with time it only gets better. If you really want to get good at it fast, I suggest any time you play magic you use it. The more you have to craft your own Doomsday piles the easier it gets, and you spot faster and better wins.
Also, if you miss Iggy, you can always go the Infest route for your SB and do something like
-1 Probe(move both to board)
+1 Iggy

^This is a man who understands his Doomsday. I came to post some insightful stuff here, but I'd just be mimicing what WnB said.

It's reliable with the cantrips, but if I was to leave Meditate, I'd probably go to running Infernal Contract in the main deck actually. UU might be less constraint than U2(despise the band), but BBB is only a ritual away, and I run seven rituals as well as a Rain of Filth thanks to you. Draw four piles are harder to construct initially, but once you get them down, they are actually a little easier to go off with.

I think one of the most awesome things about doomsday is how customizable it is. it seems like even the ddft pros on the storm boards have different lists for varying reasons/ play styles. It has sort a mysterious mystical quality to it. A) because the deck is just insane when it goes off, and B) because there doesn't seem to be any consensus on how this deck should look. there's just so many ways to go with doosmaday. its so awesome.

Oh yeah, I remember people playing freaking Ad Nauseam in the thing shortly after they just skimmed the Menendian article. They got over the idea of playing Ad Nauseam Doomsday pretty quick, they underestimated the number of times they'd just be bolted for the kill that way XD
This deck has more going on when it goes off than a fighting game, I've had the joy of seeing this line at the end of one of my MWS matches "ERMAGERDIDONTEVENKNOWWHATJUSTHAPPENED". It was awesome.
And for the lack of a consensus, trying to get an optimal Doomsday list is trying to make the perfect toolbox Storm. And because not many people really want to play it, since TES is simplistic in comparison, and ANT might as well play itself.

Doomsday is like a bad super villain, spouting a monologue of their entire plan, but unlike bad super villains, you win.

Also, sorry it's taking me a while, I'm a bit sick lately.
